Benefits Job Description
Harford Community College is seeking Travel Docents to serve as tour group leader on official Harford Community College travel trips off campus. This individual will be in charge of the group, assessing safety while providing direction and support to participants.
Duties include:
  • Guiding participants to off campus destinations;
  • Checking in at destination(s) to meet the tour guide and attending the tour(s) with our travelers.
  • Providing information & description of the local attraction and answering questions;
  • Recording attendance at varying points in the trip to ensure passengers are constantly accounted for.
  • Leading participants through a per-arranged itinerary.
  • Providing customer support;
  • Participation in pre- and post-trip debrief meetings.

Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia. Work is generally performed on the College campus unless otherwise specified.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States, as the College does not offer Visa sponsorship for this position.

Required Education
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Required Experience
One year of volunteer or work experience in a customer service-focused role that involved directing or guiding a group of individuals.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Must be 21 years of age or older with photo ID.
  • Ability to communicate professionally & effectively with diverse groups.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Training will be provided but travel and/or group management experience preferred.
  • Preference will be given to applicants who have been part of a tour group themselves or has been able to travel on their own
  • Individuals with experience studying certain cultures or countries a plus.
General Weekly Work Schedule
Hours are flexible. Work is performed on an as-needed basis.
