Job description

The Center for Immersive Learning at St. Charles Community College is seeking motivated, outgoing Student Assistants to support daily operations and deliver engaging virtual reality (VR) experiences.

This role is ideal for students who thrive in fast-paced, interactive environments, enjoy working with people, and are curious about emerging technologies. Student Assistants play a key role in creating memorable, high-quality experiences for all participants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver excellent customer service to ensure a positive and engaging environment
  • Facilitate immersive VR experiences for students, guests, and community members
  • Guide participants through experiences from start to finish, providing clear instructions and support
  • Assist with setup, calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of VR equipment
  • Monitor and reset equipment between sessions to ensure optimal performance and cleanliness
  • Support events, demonstrations, and special projects within the Center
  • Maintain awareness of safety protocols and ensure all guidelines are followed
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures as needed
  • Identify and communicate technical or operational issues in a timely manner

Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Outgoing, reliable, and self-motivated
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Interest in technology, virtual reality, or immersive experiences is helpful
  • Customer service experience is a plus
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some post-secondary education preferred

Schedule

  • Part-time position with a rotating schedule
  • Availability for Friday evenings and Saturdays is required

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and actively engage with participants
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds occasionally
  • Comfortable working with computers and technical equipment
