Job description

SUMMARY Under general supervision of the Director of the BuH Partial program, this role would be a mix of clinical and administrative responsibilities for group and individual treatment within the partial hospital setting. The program helps adults aged 18 and older who are facing mental health challenges and issues that impact their daily lives. It is grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and also influenced by Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Prolonged Exposure therapies.

The program is comprised of 5 tracks for specialty care, including: General adult track Young adult track Emotion regulation track Trauma track Co-occurring disorders track Individuals in this role, known as "Cohost" within the program, will provide support to both group participants and leaders in all of our virtual groups during the treatment day. The Cohost monitors the groups to ensure appropriate group behavior, provides clinical support to staff and patients, provides small tech support as needed, and manages essential documents to the program such as group lists. Additionally, they hold a clinical caseload and/or run individual groups across our tracks.

This is a fully virtual position (the program is fully virtual) with options to work remotely or on campus. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Brown University Health employees are expected to embrace Brown Health's mission of "Delivering health with care" and successfully role model Brown Health's values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence as these guide our everyday actions with patients, customers, and one another. Responsibilities may include: Monitor and support group leaders and patients during the daily group program.

Assist with management of essential clinical documents for the group programming (e.g. group attendance and waiting lists). Minor zoom tech support in groups

Crisis support and skill coaching during the program day. Work collaboratively with psychiatrist and other team members to provide comprehensive patient care. Support, initiate, and provide clinical interventions, utilizing individual and group treatment modalities.

Develop treatment plans, tailor treatment course, and monitor results of treatment. Work with patients and families to understand symptoms and diagnoses and to implement collaborative treatment plans. Participate as a team member in patient-centered conferences with other health care personnel and community agencies.

Remain current on available community resources and access them as needed. Lead psychotherapy groups utilizing evidence-based treatment modalities and adhering to the PHP curriculum. Maintain and enhance professional expertise through appropriate educational activities.

Attend training for specific areas of clinical responsibility as needed. Participate in quality assurance activities in accordance with department, hospital, and The Joint Commission standards. Adhere to departmental and hospital policies and procedures to maintain a safe environment of care.

BASIC KNOWLEDGE Masters degree in Social Work and licensed through the RI Department of Health as a LICSW. Must also be license eligible in MA. Will consider Licensed Mental Health Counselor with equivalent experience.

Organizational and time management skills. Must be eligible for credentialing to provide independent psychotherapy, both individual and group. Training and experience in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and/or Dialectical Behavior Therapy.

Experience with substance use treatment would be a bonus. Experience working with individuals with higher acuity/in higher level of care. Analytical and therapy skills to evaluate patients, develop treatment plans, initiate therapy, and evaluate results.

Ability to effectively interact with patients, families, medical staff, and outside agencies in providing services. Ability to function effectively on a team. EXPERIENCE At least one year of clinical experience in general mental health counseling.

INDEPENDENT ACTION Performs independently within department policies and practices. Refers specific complex problems to program manager or designee, where clarification of departmental policies and procedures may be required. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY None.
