Job description

AdventHealth for Children and AdventHealth Medical Group are seeking an experienced Pediatric Critical Care Physician to serve as Medical Director of Pediatric Critical Care at our flagship children’s hospital in Orlando, Florida with additional oversight of PICU at AdventHealth Tampa.

This leadership role offers a unique opportunity to guide a high-performing pediatric intensive care program within a nationally recognized, faith-based health system dedicated to whole-person care.

Position Highlights

  • Provide clinical and administrative leadership for a 22 bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) plus additional 4 bed Pediatric Care Unit (PCU) with active expansion plans and oversight of separate 5-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at AdventHealth Tampa
  • Approximately 70–80% clinical responsibilities with protected administrative time
  • Oversight of pediatric critical care operations, quality, and program development
  • Participation in an active pediatric residency program with teaching opportunities
  • Engagement in clinical research and quality initiatives (VPS, SPS)

Hospital Description

AdventHealth for Children is a full-service, tertiary children’s hospital offering:

  • More than 200 dedicated pediatric beds
  • A 26-bed PICU
  • Separate 15-bed specialized CVICU (separate leadership)
  • A 100+ bed Level IV NICU and extensive neonatal network (separate leadership)
  • A comprehensive pediatric cardiac program
  • Active participation in national quality collaboratives including Virtual Pediatric Systems (VPS) and Solutions for Patient Safety (SPS)
  • A robust pediatric transport system serving Central Florida and beyond

Our multidisciplinary team is committed to delivering exceptional outcomes and advancing pediatric care through innovation, collaboration, and family-centered practices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all clinical and operational aspects of Pediatric Critical Care
  • Provide direct patient care in the PICU
  • Supervise and mentor physicians and advanced practice providers
  • Drive quality improvement, patient safety, and clinical excellence initiatives
  • Collaborate with hospital and physician leadership on strategic growth
  • Participate in resident teaching and academic activities; pediatric and emergency medicine residents  

Qualifications

  • Board Certified in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine
  • Minimum of five years post-fellowship clinical experience
  • Prior leadership experience in pediatric critical care preferred
  • Eligible for Florida medical licensure
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills
  • Commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care
