District Manager Position: District Manager
Location: Multi-site Central Iowa (Clive, Ankeny, Waterloo, and Cedar Rapids opening soon)
Reports to: Operations Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt
Salary Range: $78,000 $90,000 (depending on experience)
Bonus: 15% of base for meeting district goals, with opportunity to earn more for exceeding targets

Nothing Bundt Cakes is a premier bakery franchise known for its delicious, high-quality bundt cakes and exceptional guest experience. Our franchise group operates 9 locations, including 4 one-year-old bakeries and 5 established locations. We are opening 2 more locations this summer. We are seeking a dedicated District Manager to ensure our facilities in Central Iowa operate smoothly, supporting our mission to bring joy through our products.
Job Summary
The District Manager at Nothing Bundt Cakes is responsible for overseeing 45 bakery locations within the Central Iowa district. This role involves ensuring operational excellence, maintaining brand standards, supporting and developing Bakery Managers, and driving revenue growth. The District Manager acts as a liaison between bakery teams and upper management, focusing on communication, HR, holiday planning, reporting, inventory management, vendor relations, maintenance, IT support, retail operations, and marketing initiatives. This position requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a commitment to upholding the Nothing Bundt Cakes brand. The District Manager plays a pivotal role in fostering a positive work environment, driving operational efficiency, and contributing to the overall success of the districts bakeries. This role is supervising 4 Managers in our Central Iowa region; Clive, Ankeny, Waterloo and soon to open Cedar Rapids.
Key Responsibilities
Bakery Oversight
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of bakeries in your designated district.
  • Assist Bakery Managers in maintaining weekly store budgets set by the Operations Manager for orders from vendors such as Shipp, Sysco, and others

Brand Standards & New Process Implementation
  • Discuss short-term and long-term planning, including holidays, galas, and preparedness.
  • Develop and implement new processes for all bakeries to ensure consistency and efficiency.
  • Support marketing strategies and initiatives with the marketing team.
  • Set up and maintain vendor accounts. Address and resolve issues related to vendors such as Toast, ADP, Sysco (groceries), and Shipp.
  • Handle or correct minor bakery maintenance issues when possible, to minimize repair costs.
  • Manage IT-related matters, including printers, cameras, laptops, phones, internet, Toast, and Checkmate systems.
  • Support the implementation of new ideas or cost-saving measures.
  • Support new store openings (Cedar Rapids).

Communication

  • Participate in weekly virtual meetings with Executive Team every Monday at 10 AM.
  • Conduct weekly virtual meetings with Bakery Managers in the district every Tuesday at 10 AM.
  • Dedicate Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays to in-person bakery visits.
  • Escalate concerns or issues identified during weekly bakery visits to the Operations Manager and the Owner for appropriate resolution.
  • Present new ideas or platforms to the Owner to address and resolve bakery-related problems.

Inventory & Revenue Reports

  • Discuss prior month's results with each Bakery Manager.
  • Review Seasonality Reports for all bakeries.
  • Provide quarterly reminders to Bakery Managers to ensure completion of Revenue Center Reports for each bakery.
  • Monitor and follow up on SMG "Inform Contact Alert" notifications.
  • Evaluate all other bakery performance metrics (sales, labor, and marketing).
  • Oversee inventory management for all stores.

HR
  • Approve employee reviews.
  • Review training checklists and employee reviews.
  • Oversee manager onboarding processes.
  • Manage manager departures, including offboarding procedures.
  • Create and adhere to HR-related checklists.

Qualifications
Experience
  • 2+ years of multi-unit management in foodservice, bakery, or retail (bakery/franchise experience strongly preferred).
  • Proven ability to drive results across multiple locations.
  • Strong skills in budgeting, inventory management, vendor relations, and P&L oversight.
  • Familiarity with HR processes, including onboarding, reviews, and compliance.
  • Knowledge of IT systems and basic maintenance troubleshooting.
  • Experience in marketing and promotional strategies.
  • Ability to travel frequently for in-person bakery visits in communities that are out of town.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize tasks across multiple locations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) for budgeting and reporting.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to upholding Nothing Bundt Cakes brand standards.

Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associates or bachelors degree in business, or a related field is a plus.

Other Requirements:

  • Valid drivers license and reliable transportation for travel between locations.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform occasional physical tasks (e.g., inspecting equipment).
  • Flexibility to respond to emergency maintenance issues outside regular hours.
