Position Overview
The Applications Programmer operates as a senior-level application programmer on large-scale programs and systems. This position analyzes objectives and design specifications to meet user needs, translates detailed designs into software, and is responsible for designing, coding, testing, debugging, and refining software to produce the required product. The role also involves enhancing software to reduce operating time and improve efficiency, preparing necessary documentation, and providing technical direction to programmers to meet project deadlines.
Day-To-Day Duties and Responsibilities
Analyze objectives and design specifications to meet user needs.
Develop block diagrams and logic flowcharts to guide development.
Translate detailed designs into software by coding, testing, debugging, and refining the product.
Enhance existing software to reduce operating time and improve overall efficiency.
Prepare program-level and user-level documentation.
Devise or modify procedures to solve complex problems.
Provide technical direction to other programmers to ensure deadlines are met.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Master's degree is required.
Experience: Minimum 6 years of directly related experience (senior level).
Technical Skills: Capabilities in complex software development and broad computer-equipment knowledge.
Clearance: IT-II clearance, OR a current NACLC at proposal submission.
IA Certification: IAT Level II.
