Job description

Position Overview

Upswing is seeking an experienced remote instructor to deliver a live, interactive workshop series designed to help students prepare for the TEAS and HESI entrance exams. The ideal candidate has strong content expertise in nursing entrance exam preparation and can engage students in a virtual classroom environment through structured, high-impact sessions.

This instructor will lead a series of six live workshops via Zoom, helping students build confidence in core exam areas including reading, math, science, and English/language usage. Workshops should be interactive and student-centered, incorporating practice questions, strategy coaching, and opportunities for live Q&A. Total compensation is $600 - $1,200 for designing and presenting six workshops + some email communication with Upswing Tutor Management.

Workshop Schedule: Wednesdays at 6:00 PM CST - 7:00 PM CST

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and facilitate six live online workshops for students preparing for TEAS and/or HESI exams 

  • Deliver engaging instruction covering key exam subjects, including:

    • Reading comprehension

    • Mathematics

    • Science (biology, anatomy & physiology, chemistry)

    • Grammar and language usage

    • Test-taking strategies

  • Create an interactive virtual learning experience using polls, multiple choice questions, chat, breakout activities, and guided practice

  • Adapt instruction to meet varying student skill levels

  • Provide students with actionable study strategies and exam preparation techniques

  • Share supplemental practice resources or study recommendations as appropriate

  • Collaborate with program staff on workshop scheduling, curriculum alignment, and student engagement goals

  • Track attendance and provide brief post-session summaries when requested

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in education, nursing, health sciences, or a related field with a minimum GPA of 3.5.

  • 3+ years of prior teaching, tutoring, or workshop facilitation experience for TEAS and/or HESI preparation

  • Demonstrated expertise in nursing school entrance exams

  • Experience teaching in a remote environment using Zoom

  • Strong presentation and group facilitation skills

  • Ability to explain complex concepts clearly to adult and college-level learners

  • Reliable internet connection and professional remote setup

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a related field

  • Experience working with college students, adult learners, or academic support programs

  • Familiarity with standardized test prep curriculum development

  • Previous experience leading multi-session online workshops

  • Nursing, pre-health, or allied health academic background
