GENERAL DESCRIPTION/ POSITION OVERVIEW:Â
The Development & Events Intern will work directly with The Child Advocacy Center of Greater Rochester's (The CAC) Development team to solicit in kind gifts, assist with event logistics, volunteer coordination, community outreach opportunities, marketing initiatives, and donor engagement. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organized and motivated individual to develop skills in nonprofit development, marketing, fundraising, and to learn about The CAC.Â
This is an unpaid internship with a flexible schedule, lasting from May-August 2026 with the ability to adjust start and end date based on student availability.Â
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Marketing & Communications
Assist in coordinating social media and marketing campaigns
Support email marketing efforts (newsletters, appeals, event promotions)
Assist in website updates
Assist in designing graphics aligned with The CAC brandingÂ
Community Outreach
Conduct in-depth research on funding possibilities for fundraising events
Represent the agency at community and corporate events
Assist with research, planning and implementation of third-party events and community outreach initiatives
Special Events
Assist with in-kind coordination
Assist with set-up and break-down of events
Support volunteer coordinationÂ
Assist in the preparation and organization of event materials, including signage, decor, auction items, and other event-related assets
Development
Support donor stewardship efforts and communicationsÂ
Conduct research on funding opportunities and support the development of grant proposalsÂ
Other administrative duties as assignedÂ
Requirements
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Currently enrolled in a degree program in Communications, Marketing, Hospitality, Business, Nonprofit Management, or other related field
Previous coursework or experience in fundraising, marketing, non-profit management, or community outreach
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Must be comfortable with outreach and follow up to sponsors and community partners (including telephone communications)Â
Be responsible, hard-working, ethical, and committed to the mission of The CAC
Possess a high level of organizational skills and be detail-oriented
Possess solid oral and written communication skills
Computer proficient with computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite)
Ability to multitask
Interest in a nonprofit career - particularly development and fundraising
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Â
A confidentiality statement must be signed
Background check must be cleared
Mandated Reporter training must be completed
TIME COMMITMENT:
The minimum requirement is 10 weeks for a minimum of 120 hours
Hours are flexible within 9am-4pm. range, Monday through Friday
Evenings and weekends as needed
