Job description

Join a dynamic healthcare team as an Epic Principal Trainer, specializing in Surgery and Laboratory modules. This role leads the Electronic Health Record (EHR) training program by designing innovative curricula, including virtual and eLearning formats. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong collaboration, coaching, project management, and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage Epic training environment builds and maintenance, implement change requests, educate staff on updates, review release notes, and prepare for system upgrades.
  • Collaborate with department leaders and frontline staff to identify performance gaps and develop tailored learning interventions using best practices and instructional design principles.
  • Interpret clinical and non-clinical workflows and terminology to create effective training content.
  • Deliver engaging virtual and classroom-based training sessions, preparing lesson plans, materials, and documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement by sharing Epic application expertise with teammates and contributing to team initiatives.
  • Provide additional educational support outside the classroom as needed.

Education
A Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred; a High School diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience
3-5 years of Epic experience is preferred.
Requirements
Epic certification or accreditation is preferred, with a requirement to obtain certification within 90 days of completing required training. Clinical licensure or healthcare experience in a relevant area is also preferred.
Physical and Work Environment
This role requires considerable mental concentration with frequent interruptions, standing, walking, sitting, and light lifting (up to 15 lbs). Typical office conditions include noise and distractions, potential eye strain from computer use, and occasional exposure to infectious diseases. Flexibility to work unusual hours may be necessary to resolve department issues.
