Qualifications
  • Valid appropriate Arizona Teacher Certificate
  • IVP fingerprint clearance card through AZ Department of Public Safety
  • Ability to successfully pass fingerprint clearance and background check
  • Experience with online instruction, virtual learning platforms, and digital educational tools preferred
  • Strong communication and technology integration skills

Function
To serve as an online science teacher responsible for delivering engaging, standards-aligned virtual science instruction while supporting student academic success in a remote learning environment.
Responsibilities and Requirements
CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION
  • CURRICULUM: Demonstrate knowledge of, and implement, the district-approved science curriculum, state standards, and school instructional guidelines.
  • LESSON PLANS: Follow and support lesson plans for daily virtual instruction, including asynchronous materials, digital resources, and contingency plans for absences.
  • OBJECTIVES: Be knowledgeable and able to support measurable learning objectives for each lesson, lab activity, project, and assessment.
  • INSTRUCTION: Deliver effective online science support using a variety of teaching methods that accommodate diverse learning styles, abilities, interests, and developmental levels.
  • TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION: Utilize learning management systems (LMS), video conferencing platforms, virtual labs, simulations, and other educational technology tools to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
  • ASSESSMENT: Administer/Proctor formative and summative assessments, both online and in person, to monitor student progress.

STAFF COLLABORATION AND PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • MEETINGS: Attend required staff meetings, professional development sessions, district trainings and virtual collaboration meetings.
  • COMMITTEES: Serve on school or district committees as requested.
  • SCHOOL ACTIVITIES: Participate in instructional and school-related virtual events, orientations, and academic support activities.
  • SUPERVISION & EVALUATION: Supervise assigned paraprofessionals, or student teachers, providing guidance and feedback as needed.
  • TEAM MEMBER: Contribute positively to collaborative decision-making and foster a professional, cooperative school culture.

STUDENT SUPPORT AND MANAGEMENT
  • STUDENT EVALUATION: Maintain accurate student records, grades, attendance, and progress documentation; provide regular academic feedback and recommendations for interventions, retention or special services.
  • STUDENT WELLNESS: Recognize and report concerns regarding student academic performance, behavior, attendance, or well-being to appropriate school personnel.
  • CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT: Establish and enforce expectations for respectful online behavior, digital citizenship, and participation in accordance with school discipline policies.
  • STUDENT SUPERVISION: Monitor student engagement, participation, and academic integrity during testing and online activities.

OPERATION AND COMPLIANCE
  • POLICIES & PROCEDURES: Understand and comply with district policies, school regulations, and online instructional protocols.
  • ATTENDANCE TRACKING: Maintain accurate records of student attendance, participation, and tardiness in accordance with district requirements.
  • TEACHER ATTENDANCE: Notify administration of absences according to district policy and ensure continuity of instruction.
  • EQUIPMENT & RESOURCES: Maintain accountability for district-issued technology, instructional materials, and digital resources.
  • SAFETY & EMERGENCY PROCEDURES: Follow district emergency procedures, reporting requirements, and online safety protocols.
  • WORK SCHEDULE: Maintain assigned work hours, office hours, and availability for student support, meetings, conferences, and professional responsibilities.

FAMILY AND COMMUNITY COMMUNICATION
  • PARENT/GUARDIAN CONFERENCES: Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student academic progress, performance concerns, and support strategies.
  • COMMUNICATION: Interpret school policies, academic expectations, and online program procedures clearly to student and families.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • HEALTH & SAFETY: Perform duties that support the physical, emotional, and digital safety of students and staff.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
