Job description


Summary
The CFI (Cherokee Film Institute) is hiring part-time instructors to teach a range of courses designed to train the next generation of film industry professionals. The CFI will provide industry standard, unified curriculum for all instructors, including a course structure, syllabus, audio/visual aids, and reading or other supplementary materials for part-time instructors to facilitate in a professional classroom environment. Courses will be taught at the Cherokee Film Studios Owasso Campus, or other classroom spaces in the greater Tulsa area. Instructors will teach CFI participants in various competencies related to the film and media industry. All training and coursework must be delivered in a manner conducive to successful integration into a working environment in respective industry fields.
Responsibilities
What You'll Do:
  • Interfaces with managers, employees, consultants, industry professionals, and subject matter experts to gain knowledge of local workforce needs and requirements for various competencies related to the film and media industry.
  • Facilitate and lead classroom training to deliver course content based on syllabi, curriculum, and learning outcomes.
  • Conduct stimulating training sessions that resonate with adult learners based on instructional methods conducive to the respective coursework.
  • Utilize the CFI learning management system to evaluate and track assignments, post additional resources, maintain attendance records, and sustain a collaborative platform for instructor/student interaction and communication.
  • Recognize academically vulnerable students and collaborate with Cherokee Film leadership to determine a prompt and discreet strategy to effectively support struggling learners.
  • Participate in instructor onboarding and mentoring sessions led by CFI staff or other personnel.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with CFI Program Manager and other staff, as needed.
  • Teach one or more in-person classes per cohort at the Cherokee Film Studios or another classroom location in the Tulsa area, in one or more of the following content areas:
    • Introduction to the Film and Media Industry
    • Introduction to Cinematography
    • Introduction to Locations
    • Production Office
    • Production Accounting
    • Virtual Production
    • Post-Production
  • Share industry-related experiences with students
  • Work hours will vary

Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • 5 or more years of professional experience in the film and media industry with a demonstrated expertise in the specialty field relevant to the coursework being instructed (i.e., cinematography, locations, accounting, virtual production, etc.)

Required Qualifications
  • 5 or more years of professional experience in the film and television industry, in an area to align with the course for which you are hired to teach
  • Full knowledge of industry standard safety practices and policies
  • High school diploma
  • Prior teaching experience
  • General knowledge of Native American representation issues in film and media

Preferred Qualifications
  • College degree preferred
  • Experience with online learning management systems
  • Union membership(s)
