Job description

Job Title: Hospital Onsite Staff Pharmacist

General H ours of Work: **** PRN

Exempt /Nonexempt: Exempt (salaried)

Department/Unit: Corporate- Pharmacy

Reports To: Pharmacy Director of Onsite Services

With the oversight of the Director of Onsite Pharmacy Services, the Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) and the contracting hospital’s Administrator/CEO or designee, the Onsite Staff Pharmacist provides oversight of pharmaceutical services for the hospital. The pharmacist must comply with all medication-related or hospital polices, procedures, and state and federal regulations as well as those of any applicable accreditation bodies

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Organizes and prioritizes daily duties and designate to pharmacy technicians or pharmacy nurses as needed to maintain departmental records, licenses, permits, and to attend required meetings.
  • Is physically in the hospital as determined by the contract with the hospital.
  • Stays up to date and follows departmental policies and procedures.
  • Communicates with other healthcare professionals in an effective manner via telephone, written communication, or other means. Provides drug information to physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals.
  • Reviews patient profiles and maintains patient profiles. Compounds and prepares pharmaceutical preparations and maintain a unit-dose distribution system.
  • Oversees work done by pharmacy technicians, maintains inventory, including the ordering, receiving, storing and, distribution of medication. Responsible for all activities associated with the handling of controlled medications, maintenance of records and inventory, and oversee all medication storage areas.
  • Is responsible for accurate documentation of all work completed.
  • Maintains customer-service focus to achieve excellent working relationships with the leadership, pharmacy and nursing staff of contracted facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The individual must be able to work the hours specified above. The requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to perform the essential functions. REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Hospital experience or completion of ASHP-accredited Residency preferred.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, and/or REGISTRATIONS:

  • Pharmacist must hold appropriate licensure for practice in states served.
  • Additional state Pharmacist licenses may be required as determined by job assignment.
