Role: Logistics Coordinator
Job Summary: The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for the scheduling of trucks for delivery of product within a specified territory to Sun Gro customers. Responsible for building and maintaining relationships with trucking and transportation companies and logistics partners to achieve business goals.

Job Responsibilities
  • Work with independent carriers to haul and deliver products to customers within an assigned geographic territory.
  • Schedule full truckload shipments with carriers for pickup and delivery, approximately 75-100 loads/week
  • Search, identify and negotiate rates with independent carriers to haul product while keeping costs down.
  • Negotiate rates with existing carriers and brokers for same day loads as well as future capacity needs.
  • Communicate and receive detailed customer load information by telephone, email, customer websites, or electronic tendering.
  • Monitor and trace loads so that follow up can be made to the customer regarding issues that could effect on-time pick up or delivery.
  • Effectively maintain, build and grow relationships with existing and/or new carriers.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with customer, operations personnel and executive management.

Qualifications
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment; attention to detail critical.
  • Strong, self-driven individual able to book upward of 20+ loads a day, every day.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both in person and on the phone with customers, carriers, internal and external business partners providing concise instruction or information.
  • Ability to develop relations with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently; bi-lingual Spanish a plus.
  • Ability to manage complex transactional or emotional customer situations promptly and professionally meeting commitments for service and assistance.
  • Advanced Excel and data management skills
  • 1+ years proven freight booking experience in a trucking/transportation environment required.
  • Previous experience in booking and negotiating truckload freight.
  • General knowledge of freight, DOT rules and regulations.
  • Prior Transportation Software knowledge and experience with Transportation Management systems (TMS)
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or Logistics Transportation preferred.
