The Rollins Center for Language & Literacy at the Atlanta Speech School
The Rollins Center for Language & Literacy is a professional development center founded in 2004 at the Atlanta Speech School, with the singular purpose of breaking the cycle of illiteracy for children who have been denied access to educational opportunity. Rollins does this by extending the science-based instruction received by each child at the Atlanta Speech School to every child through facilitation and coaching in regional schools and, globally, through the free online Cox Campus.

Cox Campus (www.coxcampus.org) democratizes the sciences of healthy brain development, language, and literacy – making accredited professional coursework, content, and community free to all.  We are committed to literacy and justice for all.  We do this through an equity-based learning platform where together we build the expertise and agency needed so that every adult can play a role in helping each child find their voice and live boldly to reshape the world.

The Cox Campus Community Facilitator cultivates and supports Members across the continuum of care, from perinatal to early learning, family engagement, elementary, and adolescent literacy, through our Cox Campus Community.  The Facilitator fosters community discussions, connects Members with one another, and supports problem-solving within a virtual community of practice.  The Facilitator brings experience and expertise across the sciences, as well as in virtual collaborative peer coaching and community building.  In addition, at the start of this role, the Facilitator will be responsible for building the Cox Campus Community.  This work involves an understanding of online community development and technology, and the Facilitator will work closely with the Tech Ops team to launch the Community space.  Ongoing, this role will continue to enhance the features and experience of Community through both technology and relationships. 

Essential Job Duties:

Community Facilitation & Engagement:

•  
• Build and sustain collaborative relationships with Members across the continuum, including diverse stakeholders like school/nonprofit leaders, instructional coaches, teachers, family members, and community partners.
• Engage Members in reflective conversations tied to the sciences of healthy brain development, language acquisition, literacy, and deep reading.
• Center the Cox Campus Way, TWMB Integration Guide, the Essential Elements of a Language-Centered Ecosystem, and the Elements of Equitable Literacy in community facilitation and engagement.
• Support and encourage the use of child outcome data and instructional evidence to inform instructional plans and decisions, as well as professional learning
• Design and facilitate a professional learning community/communities (PLC) aligned to evidence-based language and literacy practices and Cox Campus content. This may include leading synchronous, virtual PLCs across the continuum.
• Apply insights from practice to better understand Member needs, bridge the gap between theory and implementation, and shape a community experience that is relevant, responsive, and impactful.
• Provide strong facilitation and communication skills
• Skilled at working across teams and systems
• Experience with online community platforms or digital engagement spaces, including developing and maintaining community standards
• Ability to balance relationship-building, operational follow-through, and organizational priorities

Virtual Community Development & Management

• In partnership with Rollins Directors and Tech Ops, research, develop, launch, and manage an online/virtual community for Cox Campus Members (and prospective Members) to engage in problem-solving, professional learning, dialogue, resource sharing, etc. 
• Engage with the Rollins/Cox Campus Tech Ops team to continuously improve the Member experience within the Community space with innovative technology enhancements
• Troubleshoot Member issues, utilize the Tech Ops ticket system, and ensure there is a seamless user experience between the LMS and the Community

Member Communication:

• Develop and implement a Member Communications plan, including but not limited to Community engagement and discussions, events, and email updates/newsletter to Cox Campus Members.  Engage with Members through social media messages and posts
• Work with cross-functional teams to include relevant and vetted content updates, as well as field implementation success stories
• Collaborate with coworkers or teams to complete tasks or projects
• Provide information, guidance, or support to other departments or staff
• Respond to internal inquiries or resolve service-related issues.

Research/Professional Development:

• Stay current on research and best practices related to structured literacy, early childhood education, curriculum and instruction, professional learning, and instructional coaching
• Engage in ongoing professional learning to continuously strengthen coaching practice and content expertise

• Bachelor's in a relevant field, or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of prior work-related experience, including experience working with early learning/elementary teachers and other practitioners from perinatal – adolescence, building and maintaining virtual communities, and facilitating professional learning groups
• Education and Child Development: Structured Literacy; Early Healthy Brain Dev.; Language Acquisition, Public Health, Adult Learning
• Education/Training: Principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction, and measuring training effects
• Machine Learning & Learning Technology
• Customer and Personal Service: Principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
• This role regularly involves managing multiple priorities, emotionally complex interactions, or decision-making in moderately high-stakes environments

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• The Rollins Center is a hybrid workplace, with both in-person and site-based work, as well as remote work. The Facilitator will work at the Rollins Center at the Atlanta Speech School and will have the opportunity to work remotely from home when possible.  Some travel is expected to the Rollins Center at the Atlanta Speech School, as well as to national conferences. The physical demands described here are representative of those required of a staff member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Light physical effort equal to frequent lifting or moving of lightweight materials. Regularly required to sit or stand, bend, and reach. Generally, works in an office environment but may occasionally be required to perform job duties outside of the typical office setting

Compensation and Benefits:

This is a full-time position offering a generous benefits package, including personal and sick days, health/dental/life/vision insurance, and long-term disability insurance. The Speech School subsidizes health insurance premiums for staff and families. Salary: Salary is commensurate with experience.
