Summary: 

The 7-12 Music and Dance Teacher provides engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction in both music and dance within a virtual learning environment. This position will teach two sections of music and three sections of dance to students in grades 7-12.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging virtual instruction in music and dance for students in grades 7-12.
  • Develop standards-aligned lessons that meet diverse student needs and learning levels.
  • Teach music and dance concepts, techniques, performance, rhythm, movement, choreography, and creative expression.
  • Incorporate diverse musical and dance styles, traditions, history, and cultural perspectives.
  • Provide opportunities for students to create, practice, perform, and demonstrate learning.
  • Adapt instruction to accommodate varying experience levels, abilities, learning needs, and home environments.
  • Use virtual tools, video demonstrations, and digital resources to support learning and engagement.
  • Monitor student progress and provide timely, meaningful feedback.
  • Maintain accurate grades, attendance, and required documentation.
  • Communicate with students and families regarding progress, participation, and support needs.
  • Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and other school activities as required.
  • Analyze and use student data to inform your teaching.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Background, experience, or education in music, dance, performing arts, or a related instructional area is preferred.
  • Hold a valid teacher license or meet alternative requirements. NHA will support you through your alternative certification journey.
