CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE

Reports to: Service Manager
Status: Regular, Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Location: Fairbanks, AK
Compensation: $18.25-$23.73 DOE

JOB SUMMARY: The Customer Sales Representative (CSR) is the first point of contact for showroom customers, providing exceptional service and positive purchasing experience. This role supports sales by processing transactions, answering customer inquiries, providing product information, and helping customers select products that meet their needs. The CSR maintains an organized and inviting showroom, promotes products and special offers, and supports sales and marketing initiatives. Success in this role requires strong customer service skills, professionalism, attention to detail, and a commitment to customer satisfaction and showroom sales performance.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently while creating a positive purchasing experience.
  • Answer and respond to customer phone calls, emails, text messages, and in-person inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing questions, resolving concerns, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Assist showroom visitors with product selection by identifying customer needs and providing product recommendations.
  • Continuously monitor the showroom floor to greet customers, answer basic purchasing questions, and connect customers with appropriate staff when needed.
  • Educate customers on product features, benefits, maintenance requirements, warranties, financing options, and current promotions.
  • Support order entry, payment processing, scheduling, and other administrative functions as required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing showroom consistent with company merchandising and brand standards.
  • Ensure product displays, marketing materials, and promotional signage are current, accurate, and well-presented.
  • Assist with inventory monitoring, product stocking, and showroom merchandise organization.
  • Participate in sales training, product knowledge development, and team meetings to stay informed on company products and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to build positive relationships with customers, coworkers, and vendors.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally in person, over the phone, through text messages, and by email.
  • Knowledge of basic math, cash handling procedures, and sales transaction processing.
  • Basic proficiency with computers, point-of-sale (POS) systems, Microsoft Office applications, and other business software; ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to handle customer concerns, complaints, and difficult situations with professionalism, patience, and sound judgment.
  • Ability to maintain an organized, clean, and visually appealing showroom environment.
  • Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and dependability, including regular and punctual attendance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  2. One (1) year of experience in customer service or retail sales.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Experience with Alaska Native Corporations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment and materials weighing up to 25 lbs. unassisted.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
