Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) – School-Based Responsibilities
- Assist the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) with treatment planning, speech therapy preparation, and implementation of student communication goals.
- Document client performance and progress during therapy sessions.
- Prepare therapy materials and equipment for upcoming sessions.
- Assist in the assessment of speech and language disorders.
- Provide feedback to clients and caregivers regarding progress.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of client sessions.
- Support the SLP in screenings and evaluations.
- Collaborate with teachers and school staff to support student communication goals.
- Maintain therapy schedules, service logs, and documentation in accordance with district and state guidelines.
- Assist with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) implementation when appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Associate's or bachelor’s degree in communication sciences and Disorders or another qualifying program
- Active Oregon (OR) Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) License through the Oregon Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology
- School-based experience as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) is preferred.
