The Production Planner is responsible for planning and managing production schedules to meet customer delivery requirements while maximizing DEUTZ's production capacity. This role works closely with the Production Planning Manager, Sales, Purchasing, and Manufacturing teams to align production schedules with demand signals, inventory targets, and operational capabilities. In addition, supports demand balancing, production level loading, and Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) alignment to ensure efficient utilization of resources while maintaining service level commitments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage, release, and close production orders to align with demand signals including forecasts, sales orders, and safety stock levels.
  • Plan and manage production schedules to meet customer delivery requirements while optimizing production capacity.
  • Utilize planning tools including the LMPC planning tool, capacity planning tools, Pro-Tracker staged kits, and production schedules.
  • Support production level loading strategies to maintain stable workflow and improve operational efficiency.
  • Analyze sales order releases in relation to production capacity and material requirements.
  • Participate in activities that support Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP).
  • Review master production schedules and work orders to ensure alignment with production objectives.
  • Interface with manufacturing personnel, purchasing, and supervisors regarding material status and planning issues.
  • Establish and adjust priorities for customer orders.
  • Release work orders to production departments specifying quantities, product type, and completion dates.
  • Revise production schedules based on priorities and availability of labor, materials, and equipment.
  • Support prototype builds and New Product Introduction (NPI) activities.
  • Provide support to Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Production Management.
  • Establish work order start dates and communicate schedule adjustments to stakeholders.
  • Update weekly late delivery reports and identify root causes.
  • Establish economic order quantities (EOQ) and minimum stocking levels with guidance from the Planning Manager.
  • Adjust internal part lead times to improve planning accuracy.
  • Support training initiatives and assist with onboarding new employees when required.

  • 1-2 years of production planning experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong planning/organizing skills with the ability to prioritize and plan work activities; Uses time efficiently; Sets goals and objectives.
  • Strong cost consciousness with the ability to work within approved budget; Develop and implement cost-saving measures; conserve organizational resources.
  • Strong attention to detail skills with the ability to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Knowledge of MRPII, ERP Systems, MS Office, and Production Planning tools such as LMPC
