Position Summary:

Student Employees are eligible to work on campus in a part-timecapacityaccording toEnsignCollege Student Employment Policy.In addition to fulfilling this purpose, each employee continuously strives to bring about the mission of Ensign College, which is to develop capable and trusted disciples of Jesus Christ.

Hours: 15-19 hours a week during the semester, and the starting wage for all student employees is $14.00 per hour, with the possibility of a $.25 rate increase each semester of continued work based on merit.

The Academic Advising Office exists to support Ensign College in its mission to"Develop capable and trusted disciples of Jesus Christ." Weachieve this by providing high-quality tools, resources, and experiences designed to supportstudents in achievingcollege success. Academic Advising is a key resource and plays a critical role in the student journey.

Student Academic Advisor Assistantssupport full-time Academic Advisors byassistingstudents in every aspect of their academicexperience as part of an Advising Team.They work with prospective, current, and former students to help them understand certificate and degree offerings,identify the right program of study to align withprofessional or future educational goals, developacademicplans,check completion progress,clarifyand uphold Collegepolicies and processes,connect students to resources for success, and act as trusted mentors toguide students on their path to achieving their academic and professional goals.

Essential Skillset:

  • Currently enrolled as an Ensign College student taking at least 6 credits and in good academic standing.

  • Have andmaintaina cumulative 3.5GPA

  • Successful completion of at least one semester at Ensign College

  • Clear and conciseverbal and written communication

  • Social perceptiveness and high emotional intelligence

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assistfull-time Academic Advisors in supportingstudents(new, continuing, & returning)through first-year retentionandpersistence in their desired program,andtimelygraduation through student engagement across various modalities (in-person, virtual, individual, group, or online communication)

  • Facilitate students' academic progress by evaluating their needs andworking with them to developappropriate goalsand plans for success

  • Proactively outreach prospective, current, and former students to adviseregardingprogram offerings, career/major exploration, course planning, and registration;educatestudentsregardinggraduation requirements

  • Assiststudents in finding solutions to everyday issues that could impede their college success by connecting them to other college or community resources

  • Maintain confidentialityin accordance withthe Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) laws

  • Work closely with their full-time assignedAcademicAdvisor to ensure understanding and mastery of program offerings, course equivalencies and substitutions, prerequisites, etc.

  • Understand and uphold college policies and help students do the same.

  • Maintainaccuratestudentacademic filesandadvisingrecords.

  • Work closely with theirassigned full-timeAcademicAdvisor and theRegistrar's Office to ensure accuracy of degree audits

  • Coordinate data compilation, statistical reports, and correspondence,when requested
