Monarch Casino Resort Spa, a premier destination in Black Hawk, Colorado, is seeking an experienced and results-driven Business Development Manager to join our Sales team. Reporting to the Assistant General Manager, the Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying, developing, and growing new business opportunities that drive revenue across the resort. This role focuses on building and maintaining strong client relationships, prospecting new accounts, expanding, and promoting Monarch Casino Resort Spa as the preferred destination for meetings, events, group business, and leisure travel.

This role requires a proven track record in sales, business development, or account management, along with strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to represent Atlantis professionally while supporting the overall goals of the Sales department.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Aggressively find, develop and maintain outstanding relationships within the business community.
  • Solicit all opportunities for local businesses to utilize our resort for the amazing offerings it allows - catering events, spa, overnight accommodations, private dining outlets, VIP guests and others projects as directed by the Assistant General Manager.
  • Effectively partner with all relevant departments to understand business needs and how she/he can best assist in proactively driving revenue, especially during ‘need’ time periods.
  • Goals will include revenues generated to outlets throughout the resort.
  • Must be strategic in identifying and targeting opportunities to maximize revenue opportunities, especially during off-peak seasons, shoulder seasons and mid-week business ‘need dates.’

JOB DUTIES:

  • Develop and execute an annual Business Plan – Strategy related to assigned goals to exceed budgeted revenue for partnered departments inclusive of cross selling all properties in the Monarch Resort portfolio
  • Solicit local business prospects, and maintain an excellent network of industry and local business clients – targeting high-end clientele/decision makers.
  • Partner with Executive Meetings Manager(s) on the Sales Team to assist in developing and building accounts with prospective clients to increase room night utilization at targeted room rates.
  • Partner with the resort's Directors’ to develop and build accounts with prospective clients to increase catering revenue at targeted prices.
  • Responsible for tracking/tracing accounts, contract documents and correspondence.
  • Participate or host meetings, community events, special events with key organizations throughout Colorado.
  • Host weekly lunches, dinners and site inspections of the resort with prospective clients.
  • Occasional travel out of town if needed.
  • Analyze various industry and local publications, reports and current market trends to create new marketing strategies and plans to support property initiatives.
  • Maintain a positive work environment by conducting all communication with clients, prospects, colleagues, co-workers and supervisors in a professional, friendly, cooperative and helpful manner.
  • Provide Assistant General Manager with weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual tracking and sales reports for projects, meetings and daily activities.
  • Conduct telemarketing sales calls and develop/execute direct mail solicitations and promotions when needed.
  • Participate in all local tradeshows as needed.
  • Promote excellent customer service by listening to and providing "win-win" solutions for challenges at hand.
  • Work cooperatively with all Team members of property and create new systems and
  • strategies to increase sales and enhance sales programs.
  • Assist with incidental and related duties as required and assigned by the Executive Director of Sales.


ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in community sales or hotel sales preferred.
  • Positive, upbeat and energetic personality.
  • Thorough knowledge of building the sales "pipeline" and exceeding revenue goals.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent public speaking skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent public relations and customer service skills.
  • Work off-site in the community and on-site at the resort interfacing with clients, Team Members and vendors on a regular basis.
  • Work schedule varies and may include weekends and attending early morning & evening events related to building a strong network within Colorado.
  • Professional appearance and attire.
  • Must adhere to all grooming standards; no "visible" tattoos/piercings or unnatural hair color or nail colors.
