Job Description

This role is ideal for someone with a strong visual eye—especially in shooting (photo or video)—who is also interested in growing across all areas of production.

Work on real shoots. Build your portfolio. Be part of a professional production team.

This is a paid, entry-level seasonal production role for early-career creatives who already have a foundation in photo/video and want real, hands-on experience.

Timeline: June 1 – End of October (~5 months)
Location: In-person (Virginia Beach)
Hours: Minimum 20/week, often flexing up to full-time based on production needs

You’ll be part of our team on active shoots—contributing in real ways.

This role is best suited for recent graduates or early-career creatives with existing experience—not beginners starting from scratch.

What You’ll Do

  • You will wear many hats and be expected to step in wherever needed.

Creative + Capture

  • Capture photo and video content on shoots
  • Develop and apply a strong visual eye
  • Assist with still photography (growth toward independent shooting expected)

On Set

  • Serve as a Production Assistant (PA) in various roles
  • Assist camera team (camera assist / 2nd shooter opportunities)
  • Help with lighting, grip, and technical setup
  • Support audio when needed
  • Assist with client and crew coordination
  • Step into any role needed (props, logistics, on-camera, etc.)

Post + Support

  • Assist with photo organization, editing, and management
  • Support footage handling, transfers, and basic post workflows
  • Light editing or creative support when appropriate (not the primary focus)

You should already have experience through:

  • School (recent graduate or current/recent student), OR
  • Freelance / personal work with a clear portfolio

You should be able to step in, contribute, and grow quickly.

Qualifications
  • Portfolio demonstrating photography, video, or visual storytelling

  • Prior hands-on experience with cameras or production environments

  • Strong visual instincts and creative awareness

Core Traits

  • Positive, team-first attitude
  • Highly adaptable and willing to jump into any role
  • Self-starter who takes initiative and solves problems
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Makes themselves useful without needing constant direction

Bonus Skills (Not Required)

  • Graphic design
  • Motion graphics
  • Photo editing / color
  • Makeup
  • Voiceover

Schedule & Expectations

This role requires a high level of flexibility.

  • Minimum 20 hours/week guaranteed
  • Many weeks may reach ~40 hours depending on production needs
  • Schedule may include:
    • Early mornings (sunrise shoots)
    • Evenings (sunset shoots)
    • Occasional weekends (not every weekend)

Most work happens during weekdays, but schedules shift frequently.

This role should be your top priority during the season.
If you have another job, it must be flexible and work around a changing schedule.

Rigid schedules (fixed classes, inflexible work blocks, etc.) are not a fit for this role.

Growth Opportunity

We invest in people who show strong potential and contribute to the team.

  • For the right candidate, there may be opportunities for continued freelance or future seasonal work based on performance and company needs.
  • We are looking for someone we can grow and potentially keep long-term.

Technology & Tools

  • Equipment is provided for shoots
  • Familiarity with Mac systems is helpful
  • Having your own laptop is a plus

Culture

We are a tight-knit, creative team that values strong ideas, hard work, and high standards.

We embrace evolving tools and workflows (including AI) in a thoughtful, human-centered way. You don’t need to be an expert—but you should be open to learning and adapting.

Compensation

This is a paid, hourly, entry-level seasonal role.Compensation reflects an internship-level rate while providing significant hands-on experience, training, and real-world production exposure.
