What is video quality assurance?

Video Quality Assurance (QA) is the process of systematically testing and evaluating video content, streaming platforms, or video products to ensure they meet specific quality standards. This involves checking for issues such as audio-video sync, resolution, playback errors, buffering, and visual artifacts. Video QA professionals work to identify and document defects, collaborate with developers to resolve them, and verify that the final product delivers a smooth and high-quality viewing experience for users. Their work is essential for streaming services, broadcasters, and any company delivering video content to ensure customer satisfaction.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a video quality assurance specialist?

To thrive as a Video Quality Assurance specialist, you need a solid understanding of video production standards, attention to detail, and experience with quality assurance methodologies, often supported by a degree in media, computer science, or related fields. Familiarity with video editing software, QA automation tools, and content management systems is typically required. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills make candidates stand out in this role. These competencies ensure the delivery of high-quality video content, efficient issue resolution, and seamless collaboration with production and development teams.

What are some common challenges faced by video quality assurance professionals during the testing process?

Video Quality Assurance professionals often encounter challenges such as identifying subtle visual artifacts, managing a wide range of devices and formats, and keeping up with rapidly changing streaming technologies. Ensuring consistent video playback quality across different platforms and network conditions requires attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills. Collaboration with development and product teams is essential to address issues quickly and maintain high-quality standards for end-users.

QA Engineers at AxisCare sit within engineering teams as part of our shift-left quality model. In this role you will contribute directly to product quality by developing test strategies, executing testing activities, and collaborating closely with engineers and product managers throughout the development lifecycle. This role balances hands-on testing, automation contributions, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure quality is consistently built into every release.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute detailed test plans, test cases, and scripts for functional, integration, and regression testing
  • Design, maintain, and execute automated test scripts for various components including UI, API, and performance testing
  • Participate in sprint planning, design reviews, and requirements analysis to ensure clarity, testability, and early identification of quality risks
  • Conduct performance and load testing to evaluate system behavior under varying levels of stress and usage
  • Report, track, and manage defects throughout the development lifecycle, ensuring issues are clearly documented and resolved prior to release
  • Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and business analysts to improve product quality and ensure alignment with requirements
  • Assist in identifying root causes of defects and verify bug fixes through targeted validation and regression testing
  • Engage with approved AI-assisted testing tools as part of day-to-day work, contributing to the team’s ongoing adoption of these tools to improve quality, coverage, and efficiency
  • Contribute to improving testing practices, documentation, and team quality standards
  • Support automation initiatives by maintaining automated test suites and identifying opportunities to expand test coverage

What We’re Looking For (Required Qualifications)

  • Solid understanding of multiple testing types including functional, integration, regression, performance, and security testing
  • Experience with automated testing tools such as Playwright, Selenium, TestNG, or similar frameworks
  • Ability to analyze software requirements and technical specifications to design effective test coverage
  • Familiarity with programming or scripting languages used for test automation such as JavaScript, Python, or Java
  • Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and analytical problem-solving skills
  • Experience working within Agile development environments and collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple testing priorities simultaneously
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to clearly document issues and test outcomes

  • Experience with API testing tools such as Bruno, Postman or similar

Join our team and play a crucial role in delivering high-quality software solutions that empower home care operators and enhance the lives of caregivers and care recipients alike. If you are passionate about ensuring the reliability and usability of software and possess the necessary skills and qualifications, we invite you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
