Position Summary:

The Temporary Audiovisual (AV) Production Assistant supports the Student Centers Events team by ensuring the successful setup, operation, and troubleshooting of audiovisual equipment for events held in Talley Student Union and Witherspoon Student Center. This position plays a vital role in delivering high-quality event experiences across a variety of campus venues, including key spaces such as the ballroom, auditorium, Washington Sankofa Room, and Stafford Commons.
In addition to AV responsibilities, the AV Production Assistant will collaborate with the operations team to assist with general event setup, including risers, tables, chairs, and other event infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot audiovisual equipment, including microphones, speakers, projectors, mixers, lighting systems, and video displays.
  • Provide on-site AV support during live events to ensure smooth execution and rapid problem resolution.
  • Collaborate with event planners and clients to understand AV requirements and ensure technical needs are met.
  • Provide excellent customer service to clients, guests, and partners before, during, and after events.
  • Assist with physical setup and breakdown of event spaces, including risers, tables, chairs, pipe and drape, and staging materials.
  • Maintain equipment inventory and ensure equipment is stored and handled safely.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and clients in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
  • Support a variety of events such as lectures, performances, ceremonies, and student organization activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the goals of the Events and Student Centers Operations teams.
