Job description

Job Title: Substation EngineerJob Description

We are seeking a Substation Engineer to design cost-effective and appropriate protection schemes, review schematic drawings, perform power system calculations, and develop relay settings. The role involves ensuring compliance with industry standards, engineering codes, company policies, and customer requirements. You will facilitate client communication, support field activities, and manage project deliverables. A strong emphasis is placed on organization, collaboration, and team cohesion.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement cost-effective protection schemes.
  • Review and approve schematic drawings and perform power system calculations.
  • Develop relay settings and conduct required engineering analyses.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, engineering codes, and customer requirements.
  • Facilitate communication with clients, including leading project meetings and providing status updates.
  • Support field activities such as site assessments and data collection.
  • Create, review, and manage project deliverables including design packages, vendor drawings, and reports.
  • Promote collaboration, attention to detail, and team cohesion across all project phases.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams consisting of engineers, designers, and field personnel.
  • Apply strong analytical and critical-thinking skills to resolve technical challenges.
  • Assist in scheduling and coordinating purchasing, drafting, and construction activities.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (Accredited).
  • 3-15 years of experience in engineering control & protection systems, relay & surge protection, and relay settings for T&D systems.
  • Experience with substation design, protection & control, and electrical engineering.
  • Proficiency in engineering design software such as AutoCad.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred for Senior Level or willingness to obtain for intermediate level.
  • Experience with substation equipment, power delivery, and utility design.
Work Environment

The position is based in Crown Point, IN, and offers a flexible work schedule, including hybrid options with 2 days remote per week. Employees can choose flexible schedules such as 9/80 or 4/10. Pay and Benefits
