We are seeking a Senior Director of Live Game for Pokémon GO-a globally beloved game reaching hundreds of millions of players each year. As Senior Director of Live Game, you will define and lead the end-to-end live operations strategy, ensuring Pokémon GO continues to thrive as a dynamic, evolving, and culturally relevant experience for years to come.
You will oversee the health of the live game business, manage cross-functional teams responsible for events, content, systems, and player engagement, and serve as the connective tissue between Product, Marketing, The Pokémon Company, and Scopely's central platform teams. This role demands a deep understanding of live operations at global scale, data-driven decision making, and the creative vision to continually surprise and delight our players.

  • Define and Deliver Strategy: Partner with the Product Management and Data Science leadership to set long-term goals for engagement, retention, and monetization, grounded in both player insight and business priorities.
  • Drive Operational Excellence: Build scalable processes for planning, executing, and measuring live events and content updates across global regions.
  • Collaborate with The Pokémon Company (TPC and TPCi): Align on brand, IP integration, and content approvals to deliver authentic Pokémon experiences.
  • Champion the Player Experience: Maintain a deep empathy for player sentiment and advocate for healthy game balance and fun at every stage of planning.
  • Mentor and Inspire Teams: Lead a multidisciplinary global team of Producers and Product Managers to deliver world-class live content.
  • Own Business Health Metrics: Regularly track and report on KPIs to executive leadership.
  • Foster Innovation: Identify new ways to keep Pokémon GO fresh, social, and relevant in an ever-evolving market, leveraging the breadth of existing systems and content in the game.

What You Will Need
  • 12+ years of experience in live service game development, including 5+ years in a senior leadership or director-level role overseeing operations for large-scale global titles.
  • Proven success managing complex, cross-functional teams in a live service environment.
  • Deep understanding of player engagement loops, economy management, and event-driven retention strategies.
  • Strong analytical mindset with comfort interpreting data to guide creative and operational decisions.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills across disciplines and partner organizations.
  • Passion for Pokémon and Scopely's mission to connect people through real-world play.
  • Experience working with major IP partners is strongly preferred.
