The American Philatelic Society (APS), the world's largest not-for-profit membership organization for stamp and postal history collectors, is seeking a creative, versatile, and detail-oriented Digital Content Specialist / Graphic Designer. POSITION SUMMARY

The Digital Content Specialist / Graphic Designer develops and produces compelling visual, digital, print, and multimedia content that supports the American Philatelic Society's marketing, membership, educational, fundraising, and engagement objectives. This role helps bring APS programs, services, events, publications, collections, and member stories to life through creative content, graphic design, visual storytelling, and multimedia production.


Serving as a key member of the Marketing team, this position is responsible for creating and maintaining a wide range of marketing and communication assets across print and digital channels, including graphic design, social media content, video, animation, website content, email marketing materials, and promotional collateral. The role supports the organization's brand presence and audience engagement efforts by ensuring visual consistency, high-quality design, and effective communication across all platforms.


Working closely with the Marketing Director, Videographer, and internal stakeholders, the Digital Content Specialist / Graphic Designer translates organizational priorities into engaging and impactful creative solutions. The position requires a balance of creativity, technical expertise, adaptability, and project management skills to successfully manage multiple concurrent initiatives while leveraging emerging technologies and innovative approaches to support organizational growth, member engagement, and brand development.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Content Creation & Graphic Design

  • Create a steady stream of engaging digital content supporting membership, education, publications, sales, events, and fundraising initiatives.

  • Design graphics for social media, websites, email campaigns, advertisements, presentations, and promotional materials.

  • Develop and maintain print collateral including brochures, flyers, event materials, signage, tabletop displays, retractable banners, and other marketing assets.

  • Create graphics and layouts that maintain consistency with APS brand style and organizational messaging.

  • Assist in developing visual storytelling content that highlights APS members, programs, services, events, and collections.


Social Media Content & Execution

  • Create, schedule, publish and share engaging content across social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and emerging channels.

  • Assist in maintaining a social media content calendar and developing creative content ideas that increase audience engagement and visibility and support marketing initiatives and plans.

  • Utilize HubSpot to schedule and manage content.

  • Monitor social media trends and affiliates to identify opportunities to create and/or share timely, relevant, and engaging content.


Video, Animation & AI-Powered Content

  • Produce short-form videos, reels, motion graphics, animations, and other multimedia assets for use across social media, web, email, and digital marketing campaigns.

  • Edit and optimize video content for multiple digital platforms.

  • Utilize AI-powered creative tools to support video production, animation, image creation, content ideation, and editing.

  • Collaborate with the Videographer on larger multimedia projects and marketing initiatives.


Website & Digital Content Support

  • Create and update website graphics, landing pages, and digital content using Drupal, Hubspot and other content management systems.

  • Assist with maintaining visually engaging and user-friendly website experiences.

  • Support website content updates and digital publishing activities as assigned.


Email & Marketing Support

  • Design graphics and creative assets for newsletters, email campaigns, and marketing communications.

  • Assist with the development and execution of email marketing initiatives within HubSpot and other similar marketing automation platforms.

  • Support the Marketing Director through the creation of campaign assets that drive engagement and participation.

  • Work closely with the Marketing Director, Videographer, and other APS departments to create content supporting organizational priorities.

  • Contribute creative ideas and storytelling concepts that help engage current and prospective members.

  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining quality, accuracy, and attention to detail.

  • Developmaintain, and continuously improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) for assigned areas of responsibility to ensure consistent, efficient, and well-documented operations.

  • Demonstrable experience creating digital and print content for organizations, brands, nonprofits, or clients.

  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, and/or After Effects.

  • Experience creating social media content, graphics, short-form videos, and motion graphics.

  • Experience with AI-assisted creative tools for image, video, content, and design workflows.

  • Experience working with Drupal or similar web/content management systems.

  • Familiarity with HubSpot, social media scheduling tools, or native social publishing platforms.

  • Strong visual storytelling skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic/Digital Design, Digital Media Production, Multimedia Design, Content Creation & Social Media or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.


Preferred

  • Experience working in a nonprofit, membership-based, museum, educational, cultural, or arts-focused organization.

  • Curiosity and appreciation for history, culture, and lifelong learning

  • Photography, illustration, or additional multimedia production experience.

  • CapCut experience also of value, in combination with Adobe Creative Suite video editing experience.

  • Familiarity with email marketing platforms and marketing best practices.

  • Demonstrable experience using AI technology to streamline content production and creative workflows.

  • Experience collaborating in small teams with overlapping responsibilities.

  • Interest in history, visual arts, storytelling, museums, collecting, hobbies, or cultural organizations.

  • Appreciation for philately, postal history, collectibles, or related hobby communities.
