Job description

Position Summary
The Dentist is responsible for the delivery of quality and efficient dental care to the Health Center patient population and be mission-driven to serve the medically underserved patient. The Dental Team at Mary's Center is currently seeking for per diem General Dentists at our 3 dental clinics.
Reportability
This position will report directly to the Vice President of Dental Services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Complete routine and comprehensive oral examinations.
  • Maintain the quality of dental care.
  • Deliver fillings, endodontics, extractions, partials, crown and bridge, and sealants, etc.
  • Diagnose dental disease, oral pathology, and develop a written treatment plan and prioritize treatments.
  • Provide ongoing dental education.
  • Be thorough in documenting all interventions done with/on behalf of the patient.
  • Document services on the encounter.
  • Oversee the dental hygienist and the dental assistant on duty.
  • Consult on the purchase of dental equipment.
  • Work in tandem with the other member of the health care team to ensure best practices in the delivery of dental services and the other services offered at Mary's Center.
  • Treat the patient with moderate to severe dental infections on an emergency basis.
  • Participate in agency-wide and clinical meetings as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Education and/or Experience - Qualified candidates must have completion of ADA accredited dental program; DDS/DMD degree; certification through DEA; and valid Washington DC License. Some ability to speak Spanish preferred.
Physical Demands - Regularly required to sit; frequently required to reach with hands and arms, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk or hear; must be able to lift objects up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
Work Environment - Mostly in a typical office and/or home setting with quiet to moderate noise level. May be exposed to extreme cold, heat, and humidity due to outside weather conditions.
