TITLE: Associate Manager, Congressional Internship Program
REPORTS TO: Senior Manager, Congressional Internship Program
LOCATION: Washington, DC - Hybrid In-Office & Remote
POSITION SUMMARY
The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) is seeking an Associate Manager of the Congressional Internship Program (CIP) that will support the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of CHCI's internship programs in Washington, DC. Working closely with program leadership, this role manages logistics, supports participant development, and helps deliver a high-quality, mission-driven experience for interns. This position is based in Washington, DC and follows a hybrid schedule, with regular in-person presence required to support program activities, events, and participant engagement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Operations and Logistics
- Coordinate logistics for programming, events, and workshops, including scheduling, materials, and speaker communication
- Manage program systems and data (e.g., Qualtrics, Salesforce, Google Classroom), ensuring accurate tracking of participant information, attendance, and engagement
- Prepare and distribute program materials such as travel memos, orientation packets, and weekly communications
- Track budgets and maintain financial records
- Support on-site execution of programming, including set-up and materials management
Program Management
- Support intern cohorts from onboarding through offboarding, including orientation, travel coordination, and participant support.
- Build strong relationships with interns through regular check-ins, coaching, and performance feedback.
- Facilitate workshops, programming sessions, and leadership development activities.
- Develop and manage program content (e.g., presentations, onboarding modules, speaker materials).
- Collect and analyze evaluation data to inform program improvements.
- Support special events such as graduations, community service projects, and networking opportunities.
- Address participant needs and help resolve conflicts as needed
- Support additional strategic initiatives and event-related responsibilities as assigned
Recruitment and Outreach
- Support recruitment efforts, outreach events, and applicant pipeline development
- Communicate with selected participants and assist with placement processes
- Share professional opportunities with interns and alumni
Additional Responsibilities
- Draft and edit program materials (e.g., intern bios, reports, website content)
- Support special projects and cross-team initiatives as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- 2-3 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated commitment to the Latino community and first-generation college students
- Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills
- Experience facilitating groups or leading programming
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and Google Workspace
- Detail-oriented, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Commitment to CHCI's mission and values
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Experience working with policy organizations and/or Capitol Hill
- Bilingual - English/Spanish
- Experience working with platforms including Qualtrics, Salesforce, Articulate, Workramp, SM Apply and Vidcruiter
- Experience working with undergraduate and graduate students, or early-career professionals
- Experience working with student leadership programs
- Experience responding quickly and effectively to shifting demands and opportunities
