Its strategy spans various sectors, including clean energy, transportation, and industrial decarbonization. The organization also invests in climate finance, legal advocacy, and public policy work, aiming for a wide-reaching impact on a global scale.

About this Role

Rainier Climate is seeking its first Vice President of Programs to join the growing team in Bellevue, Washington. The role involves translating organization-wide strategies into actionable plans and ensuring consistent execution across the program team. This position provides a remarkable opportunity to influence how essential philanthropic capital is allocated during this critical time for climate action. Collaboration with the organization’s President and Cofounders is essential to align strategies with emerging opportunities and ensure alignment with Rainier’s mission. The VP will provide leadership and guidance to a team of Program Directors and Associates, ensuring the transparency and execution of Rainier’s strategies. Responsibilities include overseeing grantmaking processes from conception to implementation and maintaining an active partnership with the President regarding program alignment and execution.

Responsibilities
  • Translate Rainier’s strategy into innovative portfolio plans.
  • Lead strategy development across portfolios.
  • Ensure high-quality grant recommendations and program delivery.
  • Serve as a proxy for the President on program matters.
  • Lead and mentor a team of Program Directors and Associates.
  • Partner with the President on external engagement and partnerships.
Requirements

  • At least 20 years of senior executive leadership in philanthropy.
  • Experience translating strategy into execution across complex portfolios.
