Job description

The Supervisor of Utilization Care Management for Mercy is responsible for the direction, leadership and oversight management for Utilization Care Management. This position is designed to facilitate an effective process of the new care model; supporting quality patient care, safety and financial components; promoting integration of a seamless care model; coordinating patient throughput; collaborating with facilities to include leadership coordination as evidenced by metrics, optimizing performance and adoption of best practice. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards. Position Details:

QUALIFICATIONS 

Education:  Current Nursing License in the state of employment

Licensure:  Current license in the state of residence and/or employment, minimum required.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years acute care hospital setting, Minimum Required.
  • 1-year recent hospital-based Utilization Management Required
  • 1 year hospital based Inpatient Care Management experience, Preferred
  • Certification/Registration: Certification in Case Management or Utilization Review, Preferred

OTHER SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, communication and organizational skills to effectively work with others involved in the Utilization and Appeals Management process.
  • Must possess the ability to prioritize, delegate, and organize various tasks/projects simultaneously to ensure departmental and Mercy-wide goals are met.
  • Possesses integrity, imagination and initiative as evidenced by self-improvement.
  • Demonstrates personal qualities such as kindness, compassion, understanding, integrity, interest, and respect for others.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive information.
  • Ability to stay current on changing governmental and payor regulations related to utilization review, authorization, and certification processes.  
  • High proficiency in computer applications and ability to fully utilize automation to achieve departmental goals
  • Creative, results-oriented, well organized, task-driven, self-starter with high energy level, and ability to influence others.
