Be our next Vice President, Buildings in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Nashville or Atlanta.
As Vice President, Buildings, you will serve as a structural technical leader, client executive, and business builder for EXP's Buildings and Infrastructure practice. Working closely with our Aviation, Transit, Transportation, Architecture, MEP, and Program Management teams, you will lead structural engineering services across major capital programs throughout Florida and the Southeast, Georgia, Carolinas, Tennessee and Alabama.
This role offers a unique opportunity to help shape the future of airports, transit systems, and civic infrastructure while building a nationally recognized structural engineering practice.
What a day at EXP has in store for you
  • Lead the growth of EXP's structural engineering practice focused on aviation, transit, and civic infrastructure markets.
  • Develop and execute business development strategies to expand relationships with airport authorities, transit agencies, municipalities, public agencies, and institutional clients.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients throughout planning, design, construction, and asset management initiatives.
  • Collaborate with regional and sector leadership to support strategic growth objectives and key pursuits.
  • Lead proposal development, interview presentations, teaming strategies, and client engagement activities.

Technical Leadership
  • Serve as Structural Engineer of Record and senior technical advisor for complex infrastructure and building projects.
  • Provide oversight for planning, analysis, design, and rehabilitation of structures supporting:
    • Airport terminals and concourses
    • Transit stations and intermodal centers
    • Bus and rail maintenance facilities
    • Parking structures
    • Public safety facilities
    • Government and civic buildings
    • Operations and maintenance facilities
    • Port and transportation infrastructure
  • Guide structural resiliency, life-cycle performance, constructability, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Review and approve engineering calculations, specifications, BIM models, reports, and construction documents.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, transportation standards, aviation requirements, and owner criteria.

Project Delivery
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams through planning, design, permitting, procurement, and construction phases.
  • Oversee project budgets, schedules, staffing, quality management, and profitability.
  • Coordinate with architects, contractors, aviation planners, transit engineers, MEP engineers, and public agencies.
  • Provide construction-phase support including field investigations, shop drawing reviews, RFIs, and site observations.
  • Ensure consistent implementation of EXP's quality assurance and quality control processes.

Team Development
  • Build and mentor a high-performing team of structural engineers and designers.
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
  • Support recruiting, retention, succession planning, and professional development initiatives.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and best practices across EXP's Buildings and Infrastructure sectors.

What Your Experience Looks Like
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • 15+ years of progressively responsible structural engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex building or infrastructure projects.
  • Proven success managing multidisciplinary teams and client relationships.
  • Strong understanding of structural analysis, design standards, construction methods, and risk management.
  • Experience with building codes, transportation facilities, public infrastructure, and institutional facilities.
  • Proficiency with structural design and analysis software, BIM platforms, and digital project delivery tools.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and business development skills.
  • Ability to effectively engage with executive leadership, owners, contractors, and public stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Structural Engineering.
  • Structural Engineer (SE) license.
  • Experience with major airport capital improvement programs.
  • Experience supporting transit agencies such as Miami-Dade DTPW, Broward County Transit, Tri-Rail, Brightline, FDOT, WMATA, MARTA, MBTA, Sound Transit, or similar agencies.
  • Experience delivering civic, governmental, and institutional facilities.
  • Existing relationships with airport authorities, transit agencies, municipalities, architects, and contractors throughout Florida and the Southeast.
  • Experience delivering projects utilizing Design-Build, Progressive Design-Build, CMAR, and P3 delivery methods.
