The YMCA of the Roses is seeking a dynamic Vice President of Operations to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for multiple YMCA branches and program areas. As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, this position develops leaders, drives organizational performance, and ensures operational excellence while advancing the YMCA's mission of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Vice President of Operations serves as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all YMCA branches and program operations. Working closely with the President & CEO, this position drives organizational performance, develops leaders, ensures operational excellence, and advances association-wide priorities to achieve mission impact and long-term sustainability.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Strategic Leadership & Association Performance
  1. Serve as a strategic partner to the President & CEO in developing and implementing association-wide goals, priorities, and initiatives.
  2. Lead execution of the YMCA's strategic plan by translating organizational priorities into operational action across all branches and program areas.
  3. Develop and implement systems that drive accountability, operational excellence, and measurable results throughout the association.
  4. Utilize data, performance metrics, and financial results to evaluate organizational effectiveness and inform decision-making.
  5. Foster alignment across branches and departments to ensure a One YMCA approach to serving the community.

Branch Operations & Organizational Effectiveness
  1. Provide leadership, coaching, and supervision to Branch Executive Directors and other direct reports.
  2. Ensure consistent operational standards, member experience expectations, and program quality throughout the association.
  3. Monitor branch performance and work with leaders to improve financial results, membership growth, staff engagement, and mission impact.
  4. Identify operational challenges and opportunities and lead continuous improvement efforts across the association.
  5. Partner with the Corporate Director of Facilities & Technology to ensure facilities support operational excellence and member satisfaction.

Financial Performance & Growth
  1. Work closely with the President & CEO and CFO to develop, implement, and achieve association and branch operating budgets.
  2. Hold branch leaders accountable for financial performance, membership growth, program enrollment, and expense management.
  3. Identify opportunities for revenue growth, operational efficiencies, and resource optimization.
  4. Support capital planning and operational readiness related to facility improvements and expansion initiatives.

Leadership Development & Culture
  1. Build and develop high-performing leaders through coaching, mentoring, succession planning, and professional development.
  2. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  3. Ensure Living Our Cause principles and YMCA values are integrated into leadership practices and organizational culture.
  4. Partner with Human Resources to recruit, develop, and retain exceptional talent.

Membership, Programs & Community Impact
  1. Provide strategic oversight of membership, wellness, aquatics, youth development, childcare, sports, and other program operations.
  2. Ensure programs are mission-driven, financially sustainable, and responsive to community needs.
  3. Lead membership growth initiatives and ensure an exceptional member experience throughout the association.
  4. Advance the YMCA's work in youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility through operational excellence and innovation.

Volunteer & Community Leadership
  1. Partner with Branch Boards to strengthen governance, volunteer engagement, and community connections.
  2. Serve as senior staff liaison to Branch Boards and support the recruitment and development of volunteer leadership.
  3. Represent the YMCA in community partnerships, collaborations, and strategic initiatives.
  4. Support fundraising efforts, annual campaigns, and donor engagement activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated success developing leaders and building high-performing teams.
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, financial management, and operational performance metrics.

  • Ability to utilize data and analytics to drive decision-making and operational improvement.
