Job Title: Senior Vice President (SVP), SmartStop REIT Advisors, Midwest

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

Location: Ladera Ranch, CA | Corporate Office

Position Status: Full time, Exempt

JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Vice President (SVP), SmartStop REIT Advisors, supports the growth and maintenance of the Companys relationships across the Independent Broker-Dealer (IBD) and Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) channels. This role focuses on managing and growing an assigned book of relationships, supporting new business development efforts, and contributing to the expansion of distribution opportunities for the Companys investment offerings. The SVP reports directly to the CFO.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • New Business Development: Identifies and pursues new firm relationships to expand the Companys distribution footprint. Supports engagement strategies tailored to each firms structure and investment needs, and assists in negotiating new agreements in collaboration with senior leadership.
  • Relationship Management & Retention: Manages and strengthens existing relationships with Independent Broker Dealers and RIA's within an assigned territory or coverage area. Provides consistent communication and updates to ensure high satisfaction and alignment with Company priorities,
  • Advocacy & Demand Generation: Builds advocates within IBD and RIA firms who support the Companys investment offerings. Leverages advisor relationships to support approvals and adoption, and gathers insights on advisor preferences to inform product positioning.
  • Internal Collaboration: Works cross-functionally with internal teams to align on strategies and ensure effective use of time and resources. Shares observations from the field to help identify process improvements and support stronger institutional relationships.
  • Industry Presence: Participates in industry conferences and trade associations (e.g., IPA, ADISA, ICI) to build visibility and credibility. Stays current on competitive trends and regulatory developments impacting IBD and RIA distribution channels.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not oversee other staff members.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Strong sales aptitude with the ability to build credibility and influence advisors
  • Ability to meet deadlines and find solutions to problems.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written
  • Proven ability to build and manage relationships across a territory
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Experience executing strategies with a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and complex information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and CRM platforms (Salesforce preferred)
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for advisor meetings and events

ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the hiring country (United States or Canada).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of financial services industry experience with meaningful focus on IBD and/or RIA channels
  • Established relationships with professionals within Independent Broker-Dealer and RIA firms.
  • Working knowledge of alternative investment products (REITs, BDCs, interval/tender offer funds, DSTs, OZs, etc.).

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional office environment. This position can be performed in the corporate office or remotely. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers/scanners.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time, exempt position and hours of work and days of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional work on evenings or Saturdays and Sundays may also be required.

Travel will be required for the position.
