Job description

The Assistant VP reports to the Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and managing a university -wide comprehensive Institutional Effectiveness program. The AVP serves as a member of the College's institutional effectiveness, planning and assessment, and program review committees; provides consulting to all assessment efforts, and works to ensure that the Institutional Effectiveness plans are in compliance with SACS accreditation requirements. The AVP will collaborate with the Vice-President and senior leadership team to develop, implement, and assess quality improvement initiatives for the University.
Duties and Responsibilities: (60% Institutional Effectiveness and Assessment, 20% Accreditation, 20% other duties as assigned)
  • Directs the activities of the Office of Institutional Effectiveness to include support for transformative change for Claflin University.
  • Provides broad support to the College's assessment program through direct support of the academic and administrative units. Consults with academic units in developing, measuring, and analyzing learning outcomes and with administrative units in developing, measuring, and analyzing performance outcomes.
  • Performs independent assessment projects under the direction of the Vice-President in collaboration with all Deans and Vice Presidents of the College. Reports on assessment activities as requested/appropriate.
  • Lead appropriate campus efforts on institutional effectiveness and serve on other committees as deemed appropriate.
  • Recommends policies and procedures to improve the College's institutional effectiveness program.
  • Lead College-Wide Service Excellence Initiative to include staff and faculty development, campus wide communication and reporting.
  • Represents Claflin University on National and Local Boards/ Committees that advances the university.
  • Coordinates the assessment and implementation of the QEP and provides support for program accreditation, as necessary.
  • Supports and ensures ongoing compliance with SACSCOC under the leadership of the Accreditation Liaison.
  • Other Duties as assigned by the Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness.

Education: Master's in educational research, Statistics, Data Science, or related field required. Ph.D. preferred.
Experience: A minimum of 5 + years of progressive experience in managing IE, IR, Assessment programs and processes.
