Job description

The Second Vice President, Annuity Product Management -- Expanding Markets is responsible for developing and executing product strategy for AuguStar Retirement's expanding markets portfolio, with a primary focus on registered products, including Registered Linked Index Annuities (RILA). This role leads product development and lifecycle management from concept through launch and ongoing optimization, partnering with Pricing, Actuarial, Distribution, Marketing, Operations, Legal, Compliance, and other key stakeholders.
Your role and impact
Here's a glimpse of your responsibilities and the meaningful impact you'll create as the Second Vice President, Annuity Product Management -- Expanding Markets:
  • Developing and executing the expanding markets product strategy and roadmap, with a primary focus on registered products, including RILA, aligned with organizational goals and long-term strategy.
  • Monitoring market, competitive, consumer, distribution, and regulatory trends to identify product opportunities, risks, and strategic implications, and translate insights into product priorities and recommendations.
  • Developing business cases and recommendations for new products, features, enhancements, repricing, and repositioning, including expected strategic and financial impact.
  • Leading product initiatives from concept through implementation and launch, establishing priorities, driving decisions, resolving issues, translating strategy into product requirements, and ensuring milestones and business objectives are achieved.
  • Partnering with Pricing and Actuarial on product pricing assumptions, product economics, and ongoing product performance; owning lifecycle management by monitoring sales, profitability, competitive positioning, distribution feedback, and key performance indicators.
  • Collaborating with Legal, Compliance, Actuarial, Operations, Technology, Marketing, Distribution, and other stakeholders to ensure product designs, filings, disclosures, marketing materials, distribution strategies, and organizational readiness meet applicable requirements and company standards.
  • Developing and communicating competitive product positioning, market insights, and value propositions; partnering with Marketing and Strategic Relationships to support sales effectiveness, strengthen distribution relationships, and incorporate market feedback into product priorities.
  • Presenting product strategy, performance, risks, opportunities, and recommendations to senior leadership and key stakeholders, while maintaining product documentation and ensuring accuracy and consistency across policy forms, marketing materials, and other communications.

What sets you up for success
  • Bachelor's degree in economics, business, finance, or a related field.
  • 7+ years experience in annuity product design and/or product management across MYGA, FIA, VA, and/or RILA products.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, cross-functional product initiatives from concept through implementation.
  • Extensive knowledge of the annuity market, competitive landscape, product development lifecycle, and relevant regulatory environment.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, decision-making, communication, presentation, teamwork, and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams and communicate complex concepts to internal and external stakeholders, including senior management.

Preferred
  • MBA or other relevant advanced degree.
  • Direct experience with RILA
  • Experience developing business cases, evaluating product performance and competitive positioning, and presenting product strategy and recommendations to executive leadership.
