Position title: Vice President of Operations for Nursing Home – Provider Engagement & Performance Improvement 

Location: Bronx, NY (Onsite with travel as needed) 

Job Summary: The Vice President of Operations – Provider Engagement & Performance Improvement will play a strategic leadership role in enhancing provider performance, strengthening engagement, and driving continuous operational improvements across our nursing home network. This leader will collaborate closely with Clinical Operations, Business Development, and Revenue Cycle teams to ensure best-in-class outcomes. The VP will also serve as an executive liaison to nursing home administrators as needed, reinforcing Essen’s commitment to excellence and partnership. 

This role requires a strong background in healthcare operations, revenue cycle management (RCM), and finance, with proven expertise in performance improvement and provider engagement. An advanced degree (MD, MBA, or similar) with consulting or healthcare leadership experience is strongly preferred. 


Responsibilities include: 

  • Lead provider engagement initiatives to optimize performance, satisfaction, and alignment with organizational goals. 
  • Oversee and implement performance improvement strategies across nursing home operations. 
  • Partner with Clinical Operations and Business Development teams to ensure cohesive weekly outreach and follow-up with nursing home administrators. 
  • Serve as an executive representative with nursing home leadership when strategic engagement is required. 
  • Monitor key performance metrics, identify areas for operational improvement, and implement actionable solutions. 
  • Collaborate with Revenue Cycle Management and Finance teams to improve efficiency, accuracy, and financial performance. 
  • Develop and oversee operational frameworks, ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards. 
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation. 
  • Report to executive leadership on outcomes, performance trends, and improvement initiatives. 

Job Requirements: 

  • Advanced degree required: MD, MBA, or related discipline strongly preferred. 
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare operations, performance improvement, or consulting. 
  • Strong understanding of nursing home operations, provider engagement, and post-acute care dynamics. 
  • Expertise in RCM/Finance with a track record of driving operational and financial efficiency. 
  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and executive presence with the ability to influence at all levels. 
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing cross-functional projects. 
  • Knowledge of New York healthcare regulations and post-acute care market preferred.
