Loar Group (NYSE: LOAR) is seeking a senior Engineering leader for one of its operating units located in the mid-western US. Loar group specializes in acquiring and growing companies that design and manufacture highly engineered products for the global aerospace & defense market. To date Loar has acquired 17 niche aerospace & defense manufacturing businesses across the US and Europe.

The ideal candidate will be a commercially minded Engineering leader, with a proven track record of success managing and developing a best in class engineering organization in a high growth industrial manufacturing environment. Experience in Aerospace and/or other highly regulated industries is required.

The Vice President, Engineering is responsible for:

  • Working collaboratively with the President and the senior leadership team to ensure growth and profitability of the business.
  • Supporting manufacturing operations across 2 businesses - process optimization, change control, troubleshooting, and material processing.
  • Supporting business development and commercial growth as the technical lead.
  • Building and mentoring a high performing engineering team.
  • Leading technical communications for material and part qualifications with external customers.
  • Oversee Material Production and new material development as required.
  • Strong leader with ability to foster a high performing culture

Requirements:

  • BS degree in a technical discipline or 10+ years relevant experience in composites. A BSME or BSChE is highly preferred. Aerospace experience is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of polymer composite material composition, physical, thermal and mechanical properties.
  • Experience with compression molding, hand layup, bonding, curing, along with manual and CNC machining processes.
  • Deep understanding and ability to practically apply mechanical engineering principles.
  • High competence in presenting technical analysis in customer design reviews, and engineering source approval evaluations.
  • Experience in leading materials performance improvement projects using six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing philosophy
  • United States citizenship or permanent residency.
