Job description

80Twenty is a boutique recruitment agency that connects high-growth companies with exceptional candidates.

This is onsite, 5x a week to begin, near Noe Valley. Optional flexibility after year 1

About Our Client

For more than two decades, our client has helped bring big ideas to life through lighting, audio, video, drape, staging, and full creative production. They have built their name on creativity, innovation, and experiences people remember long after the lights come down.

They live at the intersection of design, logistics, and production — artists, engineers, producers, and problem solvers all pulling in the same direction, grounded in a culture of creativity, collaboration, and a simple idea: do great work, have a good time doing it, and be proud of what goes out the door.

The Opportunity

Our client is looking for a President to lead their next chapter — growing the business, developing leaders, strengthening systems, and protecting the creative DNA that got them here in the first place. Working in close partnership with the Founder, VP of Operations, VP of Creative & Design, and Sales Leadership, this role owns the company's long-term business performance, growth, and organizational success. This is a rare shot at helping shape the future of a company with a strong brand, a genuinely great team, and a healthy business. If you understand the operational and creative realities of live event production in your bones, this is the seat where that experience connects delivery excellence to business performance.

Equal parts business leader, creative production champion, culture steward, team builder, and driver of what's next.

What You'll Own:

Vision, Brand & Growth

Maintain a deep, current understanding of the event production industry — market conditions, competitor activity, and emerging trends so the company stays positioned as a premier player.

Identify, cultivate, and maintain strategic partnerships, venue relationships, service offerings, and growth opportunities that strengthen long-term success.

Champion the continuous evolution of the business, always looking for ways to sharpen strategy, market position, client experience, and competitiveness.

Partner with the Founder to preserve and strengthen the brand, culture, creative standards, and reputation — making sure the magic that makes the company special keeps thriving as it grows.

Business Leadership

Lead through the Executive Leadership Team, empowering each executive to fully own their lane while keeping the company aligned around shared priorities.

Provide strategic direction and support to the VP of Operations, keeping operational excellence as the foundation of the client experience.

Partner closely with the VP of Creative & Design so creativity, innovation, and design excellence stay at the heart of what the company does as it grows.

Balance revenue growth, operational capacity, staffing, and financial performance to deliver exceptional experiences and sustainable profitability.

Make timely, well-informed calls on major business challenges, priorities, and investments.

Keep the company investing in business systems, operational technology, and production innovation that improve client experience, efficiency, and competitive edge.

Champion a culture of safety, operational discipline, and responsible risk management.

Hold ultimate accountability for company financial performance — revenue, profitability, cash flow, forecasting, and long-term financial health.

Founder Partnership

Partner closely with the Founder to translate long-term vision into strategic priorities, initiatives, and measurable outcomes.

Lead the executive team with generative practices that promote real ownership, accountability, and healthy collaboration.

Hold ultimate accountability for the overall performance, health, and long-term success of the business.

Lead the continued evolution of the organization — designing the team and systems that reduce reliance on any single person or point of failure.

Build and mature the organizational capacity, leadership infrastructure, and succession readiness the company needs to thrive independent of the Founder's day-to-day involvement.

Sales, Relationships & Revenue

Lead and support the VP of Creative & Design and Sales Leadership, ensuring the team has the structure, accountability, forecasting discipline, and resources to hit revenue goals and strengthen client relationships, while holding ultimate accountability for revenue growth and sales performance.

Build and maintain meaningful relationships with clients, venues, partners, and industry leaders as an ambassador for the brand.

Keep Sales, Creative & Design, and Operations tightly aligned so client commitments get delivered efficiently, profitably, and at the highest standard.

Continuously improve how the company attracts, captures, responds to, and converts business, always looking to strengthen the overall client journey.

Leadership, Team & Culture

Design and continuously evolve the organizational structure, leadership model, and operating systems that support long-term strategy and growth.

Ensure the company has the leadership structure and succession planning to support continued growth.

Partner with executive leadership to align staffing, org structure, and resources with company goals.

Establish clear decision-making frameworks and accountability across the Executive Leadership Team, so decisions get made at the right level while staying aligned around shared priorities.

Maintain a close partnership with the VP of Operations — removing obstacles, aligning priorities, and ensuring they have the authority and resources to lead day-to-day operations successfully.

Lead the company's evolution in ways that support growth without sacrificing quality, culture, client experience, or profitability.

Required Skills

Experience leading and growing a production-driven or event industry business.

Strong understanding of finance and business operations — budgets, profitability, forecasting, and company performance.

Exceptional leadership skills with a proven ability to build trust, develop other leaders, hold teams accountable, and maintain a healthy culture.

A track record of bringing new efficiencies, driving revenue growth, and contributing to client partnerships.

A real care for quality creative alongside business success — this is the foundation of a design-led organization.

Experience in events, live production, theater, experiential marketing, hospitality, and/or design-driven companies.
