Job Overview:

The VP, Software Development Manager provides technical and organizational leadership for the continued evolution of LPL Financial's advisor digital platform. This role partners closely with Business, Product, and Technology teams to define strategy and drive execution, delivering scalable, secure, and highly customized digital experiences for LPL advisors and affiliated institutions.

The VP, Software Development Manager leads multiple engineering teams responsible for advisor-facing applications, cloud-based platforms, enterprise integrations, and digital experiences. This role is accountable for engineering excellence, technology modernization, talent development, and the successful delivery of strategic technology initiatives that support business growth and advisor success.

Responsibilities:

Technology Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead multiple software development teams across various product and technology value streams.

  • Develop, mentor, and support engineering talent while fostering a high-performing team culture.

  • Partner with Product, Business, and Technology leaders to establish priorities, align roadmaps, and deliver strategic initiatives.

  • Support organizational planning, resource management, and execution across multiple programs and platforms.

Architecture & Platform Strategy

  • Provide leadership for the design and implementation of secure, scalable cloud and hybrid-cloud architectures.

  • Establish engineering standards and best practices for application development, platform engineering, and enterprise integrations.

  • Guide API strategy, application architecture, and platform modernization efforts.

  • Support technology decisions that improve scalability, performance, security, and maintainability.

Engineering Excellence

  • Promote software engineering best practices, including DevSecOps, continuous delivery, automation, and operational excellence.

  • Drive adoption of modern development frameworks, tools, and engineering processes.

  • Ensure application reliability, quality, and system performance across supported platforms.

  • Support risk identification, mitigation planning, and technical decision-making.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Build strong partnerships across Product, Architecture, Infrastructure, Security, and Business organizations.

  • Navigate cross-team dependencies and support issue resolution throughout the software development lifecycle.

  • Influence enterprise technology strategies and modernization initiatives.

  • Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and offshore delivery organizations to support successful outcomes.

Digital Platform Delivery

  • Lead the delivery of advisor-facing digital capabilities and enterprise platform enhancements.

  • Support the integration of applications, APIs, data platforms, and external systems.

  • Ensure solutions support business objectives, advisor experience goals, security requirements, and operational standards.

  • 10+ years of experience within financial services, wealth management, brokerage, banking, or another regulated industry

  • Experience designing and implementing cloud-based, distributed, and enterprise-scale technology solutions

Pay Range:

$155,300.00 - $258,800.00
Actual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
