Job description

The BAE Systems Inc. headquarters has an exciting opportunity for a senior Global Trade Compliance professional reporting to the VP & Chief Counsel (CC) Global Trade and Compliance (GTC). The VP & AGC GTC will lead the Global Trade Compliance function at BAE Systems.
This role will conduct Trade Compliance Audits and run the Company's annual Risk Management Plan. The role will lead investigations by coordinating with the Sector Global Trade Directors in each of our sectors and their Trade Compliance Managers. The role will assist in providing strategic direction for the Department, in coordination with the Chief Counsel GTC and the VP Global Trade Licensing and Sanctions. The role will further develop our electronic tools for managing audits and disclosures.
Responsibilities include:
* Lead the Global Trade Compliance function and be a senior leader within the Global Trade organization
* Set the strategy and direction for the GTC function to ensure proactive, comprehensive audit and robust plans to address compliance problems before and after they happen
* Oversee our annual trade compliance audit program
* Conduct audits
* Oversee and assist in conducting investigations of matters of interest and drafting voluntary disclosures
* Assist with development of trade compliance policy and procedures
* Lead GTC's continuous improvement, development and corrective action efforts
* Provide and develop training for the export/import program in conjunction with the VP GTLS
* Work closely with the CC GTC and VP GTLS to understand compliance problems as they arise in the Sectors, and formulate successful changes to our program to address compliance issues
* Participate in the Global Trade Steering Committee
* Foster cross-Sector, and cross-functions collaboration
* Directly engage with USG on compliance issues
* Manage a team of 3 direct reports and 4 indirect reportsLocation: Falls Church, VA. Hybrid work environment. Must be on-site in Falls Church 3 days a week. Required Education, Experience, & Skills * Juris Doctor degree with 10+ years of experience
* In depth understanding of U.S. Export and Import controls including extensive experience as an Empowered Official for businesses handling ITAR and EAR controlled material.
* A general understanding of the export control regimes for other countries in which BAE Systems Inc. operates (Sweden, UK, Turkey) and/or does significant business (EU, Japan, Korea, Australia)
* Strong leadership skills and collaborative approach to problem solving
* Must be able to deliver executive level training/ presentations
* Strong written and oral communication skills to provide briefings to attorneys and Global Trade Function, as well as to senior business management personnel
* Ability to engage with the USG on compliance issues
* Secret Clearance and ability to get Top Secret Clearance

Full-Time Salary Range: $200222 - $340378 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
