Job description

Job Title: Vice President, Senior Developer
Department: Information Technology
Reports To: Senior Vice President, Trading Systems Technology
FLSA Code: Exempt
Estimated Salary: $180,000 - $195,000
Job Summary:
Cohen & Steers is currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Developer for the Application Development team, in the NY office. They will be part of a dynamic development team, which supports the Front Office Order Management System (Investment, Trading, Investment Admin, Legal and Compliance) and works closely with the rest of the development team to build enterprise-level solutions. The candidate will need to multi-task and have experience working in different technologies as well as have excellent management and communication skills. The candidate will need to have recent experience working for an asset management firm or hedge fund with experience dealing with Order Management Systems. Major Responsibilities/Activities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain mission-critical applications integrated with the firm's Order Management System
  • Collaborate closely with traders, portfolio managers, compliance, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into full-fledged applications and processes
  • Optimize application performance, troubleshoot issues quickly, and ensure system reliability
  • Implement best practices in software development, including design patterns, unit testing,andCI/CD pipelines
  • Conduct code reviews, enforce development standards, and provide mentorship to junior developers

Minimum Requirements:
  • Strong understanding of Order Management Systems
  • 8+ years of hands-on software development experience, with expertise in C#/.NET Core and SQL Server
  • Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming, Design Patterns, SOLID principles, and Service-Oriented Architecture
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Ability to troubleshoot trading-related applications and provide fast resolutions
  • Strong listening, analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working in Asset Management or Hedge Fund environments, with knowledge of equities, fixed income, and portfolio management concepts
  • Demonstrates inclusive behaviors in support of a culture that values diverse perspectives
  • Agrees to comply with the firm's hybrid work policy ("work from home policy," as aligned with the Company's employee handbook), which currently requires reporting to the Company's New York City office four (4) days per week, with one (1) remote workday permitted.

Beneficial Skills:
  • Experience with Microservices architecture
  • Experience with Azure Services and Azure DevOps (CI/CD)
  • Experience with distributed streaming technologies such as Apache Kafka for processing real-time trading data
  • Experience with modern front-end frameworks such as Angular
