Vice President, Global Distribution & Logistics

The Vice President, Global Distribution & Logistics is responsible for defining and executing the global strategy for distribution center operations, transportation, and logistics partnerships across the enterprise. This role will lead the transformation of Alcon’s logistics network from regionally managed operations to a globally integrated, strategically governed capability that delivers best‑in‑class service, cost efficiency, and scalability. The VP will oversee global distribution operations, drive network optimization, establish standardized operating models and governance, and elevate logistics performance through digital enablement and strong third‑party partner management. This leader will play a critical role in strengthening Alcon’s supply‑chain backbone to support business growth, service reliability, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Global Logistics Strategy: Define and implement the global logistics and distribution strategy aligned with enterprise growth objectives. Lead long‑term logistics network design and optimization initiatives. Drive continuous improvement in cost‑to‑serve, service reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Distribution Network Leadership: Lead global distribution center operations across multiple regions. Ensure consistent operational standards, performance metrics, and governance across sites. Oversee internal operations and third‑party logistics partners to ensure service excellence.
  • Transportation & Logistics Performance: Develop global transportation strategy including carrier management and freight optimization. Improve OTIF performance and delivery reliability across global markets. Implement performance management frameworks and control towers for logistics visibility.
  • Network Optimization & Transformation: Lead strategic network optimization initiatives including footprint redesign and distribution capacity planning. Support supply‑chain segmentation and service model alignment. Partner with manufacturing and planning teams to optimize inventory positioning and flow.
  • Operating Model & Governance: Establish standardized logistics processes and global operating rhythms. Implement consistent KPI frameworks and performance dashboards. Drive strong governance with regional operations and logistics partners.
  • Talent & Organizational Development: Build and lead a high‑performing global logistics organization. Develop leadership bench strength and succession pipelines. Foster a culture of accountability, operational discipline, and continuous improvement.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Commercial, Planning, Manufacturing, and Finance teams. Support enterprise initiatives including product launches, network expansion, and growth strategies. Represent logistics leadership in executive planning and operational governance forums.
QualificationsRequired Experience
  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in logistics, distribution, or supply chain operations.
  • Proven leadership of global or multi‑regional distribution networks.
  • Experience leading large‑scale logistics transformation or network optimization.
  • Strong track record managing third‑party logistics providers and transportation networks.
  • Experience in complex global supply‑chain environments.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in regulated industries such as MedTech, Life Sciences, or Pharmaceuticals.
  • WMS implementation or standardization experience.
  • Experience implementing logistics control towers or advanced transportation management systems.
  • Experience leading logistics integration during major transformation initiatives.
