Job Description

The VP of Development & Delivery is responsible for providing strategic oversight and business direction of destination and design development, including major attractions, food & retail, and live entertainment venues, such as CityWalk; parking structures; and destination-wide landscapes. Leads all planning, budgeting, scheduling, estimating, design, construction, fabrication, and project completion within the assigned budget, quality, schedule, creative and guest experience targets.  This may include the development of new Theme Parks, Attractions and destination elements

  • Provides strategic oversight and business leadership on the design and layout of the master plan to include roadways with connections to municipal highways, landscaping, hotels, CityWalk, and parking structures.
  • Responsible for the prequalification, procurement, selection, contracting and performance of all Contractors, Vendors, Manufacturers, Fabricators, etc. required to complete the development of the assigned Major Development.  Ensure that all project procedures are being followed as it relates to Correspondence, RFI's, Directives, Shop Drawings, Submittals, Meeting Minutes, Punch Lists, Deficiency Lists, Notices, Pay Applications, etc. necessary to successfully implement the assigned Major Development. 
  • Oversees multi-destination construction to ensure all designs are being built according to intent and that they all meet Universal's high standards of quality and safety. Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established USH policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Partner with Human Resources on the hiring and selection of the necessary project teams required to implement the projects with an eye towards engagement and inclusion of your Team Members. 
  • Lead the development and growth of Creative Hollywood Team Members, encouraging career conversations, succession planning, participation in TSAT initiatives, and communicating business updates to the Team.
  • Responsible for maintaining the overall project budget and schedule within the targeted objectives set forth during project approvals.
  • Responsible for the prequalification, procurement, selection, contracting and performance of all Contractors, Vendors, Manufacturers, Fabricators, etc. required to complete the development of new Attractions.  Ensure that all project procedures are being followed as it relates to Correspondence, RFI's, Directives, Shop Drawings, Submittals, Meeting Minutes, Punch Lists, Deficiency Lists, Notices, Pay Applications, etc. necessary to successfully implement the new attractions.
  • Oversight of the Team's management and development of the creative content done by the Creative-core team or outside consultants.  Responsible for the final delivery of a guest experience that meets the initial objectives set forth during project approval.  Responsible for the prequalification, procurement, selection, contracting and performance of any and all Designers and Vendors contracted to develop creative concepts.
  • Oversee and accountable for the Team responsible for the prequalification, procurement, selection, contracting and performing of any and all Architectural, Engineering, Technical Designers and Creative Designers hired to complete the design phase of the attractions and resort development. 
  • Partner closely with Technical Services and Park Operations to ensure clean and sustainable handoffs and operational readiness.
  • Lead complete management and report on all necessary project components inclusive of budget, schedule and progress to executive leaders and business partners.
  • Foster strong connections with clients, partners, and stakeholders to build trusted relationships and ensure seamless hand offs and long-term destination success. 
  • Additional duties as assigned and needed.
Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent experience required.
  • 15+ years of experience in the resort design and development of Entertainment or Hospitality based projects such as Theme Parks, Hotels, Retail, Food/Beverage and Entertainment venues; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven experience leading a Team through large complex attraction and resort projects from beginning to the end.
  • 15+ years of experience managing and negotiating with external vendors and partnerships to include such as Architects, Engineers, Graphic Designers, Construction, Graphic Vendors, etc. 
  • 15+ years' experience in the development and management of major projects with hospitality/entertainment/theme parks.  Planning requires knowledge of in-depth division operating plan and understanding of overall company goals.  Accountable for divisional key performance indicators (Annual Operating Plan, GSAT, & TSAT); or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Proven ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Influences decisions with a high degree of tact & diplomacy to obtain the best outcome and maintain good will.
  • Partners with HR, Finance, Operations and Legal to proactively resolve issues, long term work force planning and capital investments and priorities.

Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite. This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
