This Assistant Vice President Credit Solutions Innovation Banking role is responsible for managing lending/credit for a wide range of credit relationships. Leads due diligence, deal structuring. Partners with Relationship Management Team for credit solution delivery, negotiation. Manages portfolio, maintains credit quality, profitability targets. Tracks market, sector, competitive trends. Develops insights on loan types, credit trends in sectors. Coaches and mentors staff. Ensures any emerging risks are elevated and addressed and adheres to processes and procedures.


Responsibilities

The Credit Solutions group manages lending/credit for a wide range of credit relationships. Leads the due diligence and deal structuring process. Partners with the Relationship Management team for the delivery and negotiation of credit products. Owns the underwriting, approval and closing process. Responsible for proactive portfolio management, including maintaining credit quality and profitability targets. Remains abreast of market, sector, and competitive trends. Engages and builds relationships with key client stakeholders to remain well-informed, and able to respond to changing circumstances while appropriately balancing client and SVB needs. Develops and delivers insights and points of view on loan types and credit/performance trends in sectors/sub-sectors.
Primary Duties:

  • Lead the structuring, underwriting, and closing of credit products for assigned prospects and clients. Responsible for the end-to-end process including building financial models, memo writing, and engaging with clients, prospects, and internal/external stakeholders.
  • Manage assigned portfolio of borrowing relationships, reviewing information, evaluating risk, engaging with clients, and building relationships with appropriate stakeholders. Communicate internally to recommend and execute on responses to changing situations for clients across the portfolio. Ensure that portfolio management practices meet SVB standards.
  • Engage in team development, including collaboration and coaching of Associates who support the team.
  • Develop and demonstrate subject matter expertise within the team including market, sector and competitive trends, business models, lending models and making the group more scalable through optimizing how we conduct business. 

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of experience in Commercial banking, credit underwriting or analysis, or relationship management. OR High School Diploma or GED and 6 years of experience in Commercial banking, credit underwriting or analysis, or relationship management.

Preferred Area of Study: Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.

Preferred Area of Experience: Technology or healthcare sector experience, and/or Leadership experience and advanced financial modeling skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4 years of commercial banking experience underwriting 
  • Strong financial modeling/analysis, memo writing, debt structuring, negotiation, and closing skills with the ability to engage and build trust with clients independently.
  • Advanced knowledge of portfolio management practices including expertise in evaluating risk and managing changing situations.
