Job description

We are expanding our commercial lending group and currently looking for an experienced VP Commercial Lender to join our team. Our VP Commercial Loan Officers are actively involved in the community developing, building, and maintaining healthy business relationships through networking and referrals. VP Commercial Lenders are responsible for growing and maintaining profitable and high-quality account relationships with commercial customers and manage a quality commercial loan portfolio. Lending Officers actively support the Bank’s growth goals by sourcing new customers and deepen the relationships with existing customers. VP Commercial Loan Officers generate, negotiate, underwrite, and coordinate the closing of loans in compliance with the Bank’s lending policies and procedures. This position is responsible for credit decisions, overall credit quality, and fee income. 

Required Skills:

  • Has positive energy, motivated self-starter with a strong work ethic and acts in the best interest of the client and the bank. Ability to provide an exceptional customer experience with outstanding customer service. 
  • Conduct sales calls and demonstrate ability to make connections, engage with the customers and build business relationships. Solicit and obtain new profitable business from assigned and prospective customers. 
  • Ability to display knowledge and proficiency in loan and deposit products through cross-selling, answering questions, and educating customers about bank products and services that enhance the customer experience. 
  • Meet with customers to explain loan options, request information for loan applications, including appraisals, credit reports, background checks and other information needed for loan evaluation.
  • Compile financial information including income tax records, balance sheets and other data necessary for loan application. 
  • Ability to conduct a thorough analysis of application for credit to determine if request meets established bank underwriting criteria. 
  • Approval or denial of credit requests within personal lending authority. Determine loan conditions and terms. Present to Officer's Loan Committee recommendation for loan requests in excess of personal lending authority.
  • Conduct site visit and collateral inspections as necessary.
  • Conduct annual loan reviews on existing customers.
  • Maintain customer relationships through regular communication and follow up contact.
  • Manage and service commercial lending portfolio of loans from sales through payoff, including collection and renewal. Ultimately responsible for the credit quality of the portfolio.
  • Follow up with delinquent loans to maintain the quality of the loan portfolio. 
  • Manages time in all areas of lending process effectively and efficiently.
  • Achieve sales and service goals.
  • Build collaborative internal relationships to serve clients needs in providing the best solutions and achieve customer satisfaction. 
  • Ensure compliance to loan policy, approval guidelines, applicable banking laws and regulations.

Education & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from four-year college or university in business, finance, or related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of commercial lending experience is required.
  • Thorough knowledge of lending process and management of loan portfolios.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements and credit standards.
  • Knowledge of commercial credit and cash management products.
  • Knowledge of business management principles preferred.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Demonstrate professionalism in working with the public and all levels of management.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • High attention to detail and follow through skills.
  • Computer proficient and adaptable to various computer programs.

Compensation Commensurate with experience:

The base salary range targeted for this role starts at about $100,000 (not including an incentive plan). This salary range represents a good faith and reasonable estimate of the minimum base range of possible compensation at the time of posting. If an applicant possesses experience, education, or other qualifications more than the minimum requirements for this posting, that applicant is encouraged to apply, and a final salary range may then be based on those additional qualifications; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, years of experience, depth of experience, seniority, merit, education, training, and other relevant business considerations. This position includes a bonus of up to 24% of base compensation.
