Job description

Overview

Nexstar Media Inc, America’s largest local broadcasting company, is seeking an experienced television professional to serve as Vice President/General Manager to oversee its media properties in Peoria, Illinois (DMA #122). The Vice President/General Manager will have full oversight over Nexstar’s operations of WMBD (CBS) and will oversee its operational agreements with Cunningham Broadcasting providing services to WYZZ (Fox), as well as centralillinoisproud.com and all other digital, mobile, and social assets for the stations.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the overall operations of WMBD and related digital assets; oversee operational agreements with Cunningham Broadcasting for WYZZ.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans to grow audience, revenue, and community engagement across multiple platforms (OTT, linear, web, social).
  • Create locally originated content and drive audience engagement across multiple platforms.
  • Promote a collaborative culture across station departments to ensure operational efficiencies and growth.
  • Manage a duopoly station experience preferred; lead high-performing sales and news teams; collaborate with department heads and staff; foster teamwork.
  • Engage with local community leaders and build long-term relationships with key clients.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of five years of broadcast management experience at a commercial broadcast television station with accompanying digital assets.
  • Strong understanding of advanced digital ad solutions and new business development; experience creating content across OTT, linear, web, and social.
  • Track record of leading broadcast operational teams in sales-driven organizations; strategic vision and focused execution.
  • Ability to promote community involvement and local outreach.
Location & Compensation

Peoria, Illinois offers a welcoming community with a low cost of living. Compensation: $185k+ commensurate with experience and skill level. Position is eligible for bonuses and commissions.
