Vice President of Construction
Position Overview
We are seeking a strategic and results-oriented Vice President of Construction to lead our construction operations across multi-family, high-rise, and commercial portfolios. The VP of Construction will drive project delivery excellence, lead senior project teams, manage budgets and schedules, and ensure consistent quality, safety, and client satisfaction across all phases of design and construction. This role requires a seasoned project executive with strong leadership, commercial acumen, and proven experience delivering complex, large-scale developments.
Key Responsibilities

  • Provide executive leadership and direction for all construction operations, establishing goals, KPIs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee program and project delivery for multi-family, high-rise, and commercial developments from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring scope, schedule, budget, and quality targets are met.
  • Act as the senior project executive for flagship and high-complexity projects, making critical decisions, resolving escalations, and managing risk.
  • Develop, manage, and optimize project budgets, forecasts, and cost-control processes; approve major change orders and capital allocations.
  • Establish and enforce rigorous safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance standards across all sites.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of construction managers, superintendents, and functional leaders; recruit and develop talent to support business growth.
  • Drive procurement, subcontractor selection, and contract negotiation strategies that deliver value, performance, and strong relationships with trade partners.
  • Collaborate closely with development, design, finance, legal, and client teams to align project objectives, schedules, and commercial outcomes.
  • Implement and leverage construction technologies and systems for schedule management, reporting, and document control to increase transparency and efficiency.
  • Monitor project performance and prepare executive-level reporting, board updates, and presentations for stakeholders and investors.
  • Champion sustainability and buildability practices, supporting value engineering and lifecycle cost considerations.
  • Represent the company externally with clients, municipalities, lenders, and industry groups to advance business development and strategic partnerships.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 12+ years of progressive construction experience, including at least 5 years in senior leadership or project executive roles on multi-family, high-rise, or commercial projects.
  • Proven track record delivering large-scale, complex developments on-time and on-budget with demonstrated risk management and dispute resolution skills.
  • Deep technical knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, means and methods for high-rise and multi-family construction.
  • Experience with preconstruction, value engineering, procurement, contracting (GMP, CMAR, Design-Build) and change order management.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasts, and project controls; comfort interacting with lenders and investors.
  • Demonstrated leadership, team-building, and talent development skills; ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills; experience presenting to executive teams and boards.
  • Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil/Structural Engineering, Architecture, or related field; advanced degree (MBA or MS) or industry certification (PMP, CCM, LEED) preferred.
  • Familiarity with construction technology tools (scheduling software, BIM, estimating and document control systems).
  • Commitment to safety culture and regulatory compliance; OSHA or equivalent certifications preferred.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
