Retail Leadership & Talent Development

  • Set the retail operating model, talent strategy, and organizational structure in partnership with HR and Finance.
  • Champion a high-performance culture grounded in accountability, collaboration, diversity, inclusion, and customer obsession.
  • Build succession pipelines at every level of the retail organization to support sustainable growth.

Senior Executive Business Partnership
  • Build peer-level relationships with senior executives across eCommerce, Marketing, Merchandising, Customer Care, Supply Chain, and Finance.
  • Translate brand strategy and customer experience priorities into a coherent retail roadmap anchored in measurable outcomes, not activity.
  • Represent the retail channel in executive forums; communicate performance, risks, and trade-offs in clear business terms.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between retail operations and corporate leadership, ensuring alignment on company priorities.

Retail Strategy & Growth
  • Own the multi-year retail growth strategy, including store expansion, market penetration, and innovative showroom formats.
  • Monitor market trends, competitive dynamics, and consumer behavior to adapt strategies and maintain Blue Nile's competitive position.
  • Drive evaluation and adoption of emerging retail concepts and technologies in partnership with the broader Digital & Technology organization.
  • Ensure consistency and high performance across all locations through defined standards, KPIs, and governance cadences.

Customer Experience & Operational Excellence
  • Champion a customer-obsessed culture, ensuring a superior and consistent shopping experience across all showroom locations.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs spanning sales performance, customer satisfaction, Net Promoter Score, and operational efficiency.
  • Gather and analyze customer feedback to continuously improve service, operations, and in-store experience.
  • Implement loyalty and retention initiatives that deepen customer relationships and drive repeat purchase behavior.
  • Maintain high standards for store appearance, visual merchandising, and operational procedures.

  • Collaborate with Finance to monitor financial performance, develop forecasts, and hold the organization accountable to targets.
  • Drive continuous improvement in cost efficiency, workforce productivity, and inventory management.

Compliance & Standards
  • Ensure all store operations comply with company policies, industry regulations, and applicable legal requirements.
  • Establish and enforce operational standards that protect the brand, employees, and customers.
  • Partner with Legal, HR, and Risk Management to proactively address compliance and people-related matters.

Experience & Successful Profile
  • MBA preferred. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or a related field required;
  • 12+ years of progressive leadership in retail operations, including multi-unit or multi-region management with a strong track record of success.
  • Proven experience building and empowering regional and store management teams at scale, with a preference for developing leaders over operating tactically.
  • Demonstrated P&L ownership across a multi-location retail network, including budget management, financial forecasting, and cost optimization.
  • Track record of peer-level partnerships with senior business executives (VP+) across Marketing, Merchandising, eCommerce, Supply Chain, and Finance.
  • Demonstrated focus on customer experience outcomes - translating brand strategy into store-level execution that drives satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Strong financial acumen including full P&L accountability; comfort operating in a matrixed, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in specialty retail or luxury/fine jewelry preferred; omnichannel retail background strongly valued.
