Who are we hiring?

The VP of Audio Technology Operations is responsible for the strategic leadership of the operational excellence of one of the world's most advanced audio technology ecosystems spanning multiple venues and entertainment environments. The role sits at the intersection of technology, and large-scale production, partnering with engineering, product development production, content creators, and venue leadership to continuously elevate immersive audio experience. This role oversees venue audio technology operations, including immersive audio systems, show design, musical artist and production support, preventative maintenance and live event execution across a portfolio of venues.

The VP serves as the senior leader responsible for ensuring that every performance, event, and guest experience is delivered with exceptional audio quality, reliability, consistency, and operational excellence regardless of venue or event type. This role establishes enterprise-wide audio technology standards, operational frameworks, and performance metrics while ensuring local execution aligns with organizational objectives and world-class guest experience expectations. Acting as the bridge between innovation, engineering, product development, musical artist teams and venue operations, this role is responsible for the implementation of technological and artistic requirements into scalable, sustainable solutions that can be successfully deployed, maintained and operated across multiple venues. This role will report to the Chief Technology Officer, Sphere Entertainment.

What will you do?

  • Responsible for audio technology operations and optimization, including Sphere immersive sound, integration of third-party technologies, enterprise-wide audio infrastructure (Media Plane, Atrium, and Exosphere).
  • Provide oversight of all audio operations supporting concerts, residencies, brand events, broadcast productions and special experiences.
  • Develop and execute the long-term vision, roadmap, and operational strategy for venue-wide audio technology systems, ensuring alignment with organizational, creative, and business objectives.
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing team of immersive audio leads, technicians and production staff at multiple venues while working closely with studio audio artists and sound designers.
  • Ensure seamless execution of all live and non-live events through rigorous operational planning, quality assurance, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Collaborate and foster strong partnerships with internal product development and engineering and teams to influence product development roadmaps and operationalize emerging audio technologies.
  • Establish operational excellence standards and technical training programs that deliver consistent world-class audio experiences for artists, guests and stakeholders.
  • Partner with artists, production teams, touring engineers, and creative stakeholders to integrate venue audio capabilities into show design and execution.
  • Lead the venue's artist support strategy, ensuring seamless onboarding, technical collaboration, rehearsals and show deployment.
  • Oversee the translation of artistic and production requirements into executable technical solutions while maintaining venue standards and operational integrity.
  • Foster trusted relationships with touring productions and industry partners to position the venue as a premier destination for live entertainment.
  • Establish and drive a culture of operational rigor, resilience, and accountability, ensuring mission-critical audio systems maintain the highest levels of reliability, redundancy, readiness, and performance across all venues and events.
  • Lead vendor relationships, service agreements, warranty programs, and technical support partnerships to maintain world-class system reliability.
  • Drive workforce planning, staffing strategies, labor management, and succession planning.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and technical excellence.

What do you need to succeed?

  • 15+ years of experience in audio design, live sound, music production, or immersive audio for large-scale entertainment experiences.
  • Deep expertise in live event production, concert touring, or large-format entertainment environments.
  • Proven senior leadership experience overseeing high-performing teams and large-scale audio environments in a fast paced and fluid environment.
  • Proven track record of leading teams and delivering flawless execution in high-pressure, high-visibility environments where reliability, precision and responsiveness are paramount.
  • Recognized credibility within the global audio and production community, with the ability to influence artists, engineers, and creative leaders.
  • Experience collaborating with engineering and technology teams to translate advanced capabilities into creative production environments.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of translating complex audio concepts to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate at an executive level, balancing creative execution, technology strategy, and large-scale production realities.
  • Experience with immersive audio technologies, spatial audio systems, or large-format sound environments.
  • Background spanning multiple entertainment mediums such as concerts, theater, immersive attractions, film, television, or experiential entertainment.
