Job description

We are a growing multi-concept hospitality group operating several distinct restaurant brands. We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Controller to lead accounting and financial operations across the portfolio. This is a high-visibility leadership role with a clear fast-track path to Director of Finance for the right candidate who demonstrates strong ownership, process-building ability, and strategic partnership with operations and executive leadership.

Reporting into the Vice President, Accounting & Finance, you will own day-to-day accounting integrity while helping build scalable systems, controls, and reporting that support continued growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee full-cycle accounting operations across multiple entities and concepts (AP, AR, payroll, general ledger, bank reconciliations, and cash management)
  • Prepare accurate, timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow) and management reports
  • Lead month-end close process and drive continuous improvement in speed and accuracy
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls and ensure GAAP compliance
  • Partner with Procurement team to manage multi-unit inventory accounting, cost of goods, and variance analysis (food, beverage, and labor)
  • Partner with operations leaders on labor, prime cost, and profitability insights
  • Lead annual budgeting and ongoing forecasting processes
  • Oversee multi-jurisdiction sales tax and payroll compliance
  • Manage cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, and treasury functions
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff
  • Evaluate, implement, and optimize restaurant/finance systems (e.g., Restaurant365, Toast, Mirus, XtraChef, ADP and more)
  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and other advisors
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and provide strategic financial recommendations to leadership
  • Build scalable processes and infrastructure to support multi-concept growth

Key Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA strongly preferred
  • 5+ years progressive accounting experience, including at least 2+ years in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role
  • Required: Multi-unit restaurant / hospitality or multi-concept group experience
  • Proven ability to independently prepare complete financial statements
  • Hands-on experience with multi-entity, multi-state accounting and compliance
  • Strong proficiency in Excel; experience with restaurant-specific platforms (Restaurant365, Toast, XtraCHEF, ADP, Mirus, or similar) highly preferred
  • Experience building or improving processes and systems in a growth environment
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate financial data for non-financial stakeholders
  • High integrity, attention to detail, and comfort operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial setting
  • Prior team leadership/supervisory experience preferred
